About the RoleShareSTAFF is hiring a Surgical Nursing, Orthopedic Staff RN for a contract assignment at a Surgery Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. We are seeking a Surgical/Orthopedic Staff RN for a night-shift travel contract, providing direct nursing care to pre- and post-operative patients across general, bariatric, orthopedic, trauma, neurosurgical, and genitourinary surgical populations. This role applies the full nursing process — assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation — to a young adult through geriatric caseload, with strong competency expected across a broad range of specialized surgical care skills.

Demonstrates competency in specialized procedures including pre/post-op care (general, bariatric, ortho, trauma, neuro, GU), pain management, chest tube care/insertion, PEG/G-tube/J-tube care, traction, drain management (Jackson-Pratt, Hemovac, percutaneous, sump), central line access, specialized IV drips/titration, transfusion therapy, and NIH Stroke Scale assessment. Maintains accurate, ongoing nursing documentation and formulates individualized, age-appropriate care and teaching plans in collaboration with patients and families. Supervises and allocates work of other care staff, assists physicians with procedures, and functions as a preceptor for new staff. Responds to shifting workload demands, participates in performance improvement efforts, and maintains equipment/supplies for the unitWhat You Bring - RequiredAssociate's degree in nursing required. Active RN license, with Kentucky state license required. CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and EKG certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of RN experience required. Travel nursing experience required — minimum 1 year, per client contract termsWhat You Bring - PreferredBachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred. 5+ years of RN experience preferred
