Position: Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Worker
Function:
Performs maintenance and repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) under the direction of a higher-grade worker. Troubleshoots malfunctions using conventional and digital test equipment, including multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
Prepares equipment for storage and transportation and uses automated maintenance data systems to document equipment records and maintenance actions. Maintains external fuel and grounding systems.
Conducts scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine serviceability. Services equipment with fuel, oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, water, and compressed air. Removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, reassembles, and reinstalls components and accessories. Applies stenciling and markings in accordance with technical publications.
Handles, stores, labels, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations. Operates and services GSE towing vehicles and maintains associated records. Provides dispatch support by positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flight operations. Maintains tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, housekeeping, and safety standards at all times.
Qualifications – Corrosion Control FocusAuto Body Painter certification or Navy Paint and Finish qualification preferred.
Experience performing corrosion control.
Ability to operate a walk-in blast booth and hand blast cabinet.
Performs preventative maintenance on support equipment.
Must pass a work/respirator physical and be medically cleared to wear a respirator (failure to obtain clearance may result in disqualification).
Must provide required tools and toolbox in accordance with the contract tool list.
Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Required ExperienceMinimum of two (2) years of experience working on automotive or mobile equipment.
Required EducationHigh school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
