    Sanders Brothers Construction is currently accepting applications for General Construction Workers to support their Charleston area grading and asphalt projects. Sanders Brothers has successfully supported customers throughout the state for more than 60 years. The General Construction Laborer will be critical to our continued support of our customers in the Charleston area. Roles and Responsibilities The General Construction Laborer will be responsible for supporting site development leadership, equipment operators and other site preparation professionals as needed. This will require maintaining a neat job site, movement of materials by hand or hand tools, operation of entry level heavy equipment, and providing general labor support as needed. Follow direction of site foreman or designated supervisor. Provide general labor support to site superintendents, equipment operators, utilities crews or other designated site development personnel. Use of various hand tools including shovel, rake or other tools used to move materials. Train to operate earth moving equipment (roller, off-road dump truck, farm tractors, broom, skid steer/bobcat). Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including dusty, wet, loud noises, etc. Keep company work site clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns. Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements. Perform any other general duties as specified. Qualifications and Education Requirements 0-1 Year of construction related experience. High school diploma required. Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment. Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to pre-employment standards. Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 40 pounds of force regularly to move objects. Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time.     Asphalt Paving Laborer - AL0326 Sanders Brothers Construction Company is currently looking to hire full time support in our Asphalt Paving Department. Responsibilities Include: Placement of hot mix asphalt through the use of a shovel, lute or other related tools. Shoveling asphaltic materials and assisting with maintenance of asphalt finishing machine to include adding or removing screed extensions. Following instruction of Field Manager and/or Asphalt Foreman. Working rotating shifts which may include nights and weekends. Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including extreme heat, dusty, wet, loud noises, etc. Keep company vehicle, property and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or problems. Will be exposed to live traffic. Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements. Perform any other general duties as specified. Qualifications and Education Requirement Must meet company's employment standards with regards to background checks. Experience using hand tools The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs. Stand and walk with the coordination between their hands, eyes and feet to guide equipment in situations where precision is required. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Crew members also need fast reflexes, good depth perception and the ability to set controls quickly, precisely and repeatedly. Flexible availability to include overtime, possible weekends and may require periods of "on-call" time. Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to live traffic, dust, dirt, varying temperatures (including extreme heat), loud noises, etc. Must meet SBCC's standards with regards to the ability to pass required safety training. Preferred Skills Valid Driver's License and provide 3-year motor vehicle record which meets the minimum operating standards in accordance with company vehicle operation policy. May be required to obtain DOT medical certification based on needs of position. 1 year experience working with high production asphalt laying crews requiring rotating shifts.     Asphalt Production Operator-PO0326 Sanders Brothers Construction is currently seeking a Production Operator to support Sanders Brothers' Asphalt plant operations. The Asphalt Plant are a critical component to Sanders Brother's 50+ years of success in the asphalt paving industry and requires dedicated workers to ensure productivity. Sanders Brothers operates three asphalt plants in tri-county area. Role and Responsibilities Manufacturing various asphalt products according to mix design, customer and Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications. Performs pre and post shift inspections and reports condition of plant for items needing repair. Operates controls to batch material. Reads and/or writes delivery tickets to determine mix design called for each load. Performs calculations for differing load sizes. Loads Hot Mix Asphalt into haul trucks. May issue delivery tickets to haul truck driver. Ability to operate loader to supply material to the plant. Communicates with Dispatchers and Drivers. Controls inventory of materials (i.e. oil, fuel, lime, etc.). Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including dusty, wet, loud noises, etc. Keep company equipment and working areas clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or problems.
