    Samsung's Location Group was established in October 2012 to develop market-leading location technology for mobile applications. We have a team of about 90 people in the US driving our technology forward for future generation products. Our main activities include architecture definition, silicon design, software development, and platform integration. The Location Group is part of Samsung's Application Processor and Modem Group. We work closely together to develop highly integrated products, and to find opportunities to optimize our products for market success.

    The group is looking for a Software Engineer to be responsible for supporting our company's ongoing projects. You will be working closely with your team members to ensure that all software requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track. Responsibilities include working with a team of engineers, creating software product schedules, ensuring quality of software, and delivering said products on time.

    To be a successful candidate, you will need to have proven experience in software development and the ability to complete complex SW projects of various sizes. A Bachelor's degree is required, and experience in GNSS product development is desirable.

    You will be required to work with local and international groups to successfully release innovative products

    Location: Daily onsite presence in Cedar Rapids,Iowa or at our San Jose, CA headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.

    What You'll Do:

    The Samsung Semiconductor Inc., Wireless Connectivity Software Engineering team is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic engineers to join our team in developing software infrastructure, framework, and protocol stack for UWB chipsets. We are looking for engineers with expertise in Physical Layer concepts and firmware development. As a member of the UWB Software team, you will be responsible for developing software modules for the PHY and some part of MAC layer of various UWB chipsets.

    Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy

    What You'll Do

    Design, develop, and test software modules for UWB chipsets, with a focus on MAC layer functionality.Debug real-time systems, working hands-on with development boards and lab equipmentParticipate in feature bring-up/interoperability activities with external certification labs as well as customer sites.Collaborate with product S/W and manufacturing teams to provide system-level API and firmware functionality to meet end-user requirements.Collaborate with System engineering teams to architect, define and implement innovative algorithms, calibrations, and protocols.Support post-silicon bring up, validation, performance characterization, system integration, and debug.

    What You Bring

    Bachelors with 10+ years, Masters with 8+ years or PhDs with 5+ years of experience.Excellent coding skills in C programming languages.Strong Understanding of UWB standards & domain knowledge of UWB MAC / PHY SpecificationsUnderstanding of UCI layer, FiRa ranging and CCC standard is desirable.Understanding of physical layer concepts (e.g., modulation analysis (OFDM), channel estimation, radar) is added advantage.Experience in developing firmware for UWB communication protocols 802.15.4z and 802.15.4ab.Fluency in using lab equipment such as logic analyzers/oscilloscopes/network analyzers/spectrum analyzers/signal generators/power meters etc.Excellent problem-solving skills & analytical skills.The ideal candidate should have experience or knowledge on below domains: Modern UWB specifications like 802.15.4z/8092.15.4ab/FiRa/DCK/CCC.You're inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.An avid learner, you approach challenges with curiosity and resilience, seeking data to help build understanding.You're collaborative, building relationships, humbly offering support and openly welcoming approaches.Innovative and creative, you proactively explore new ideas and adapt quickly to change.
