    Sampson County is actively recruiting for our next Emergency Services Director. This dynamic individual will have a proven track record of leading by example with effective communication skills and demonstrated success in progressively responsible roles.

    This vital position reports directly to the County Manager and/or Assistant County Manager and supervises all operations for Emergency Management, Medical Response, E911 Communications, Fire Marshals, and GIS Operations. Maintaining 24/7 emergency response, this position also serves as the liaison between the County and various career and volunteer agencies and maintains responsibility for the County's Emergency Operations Plan and Emergency Operations Center.

    Preferred applicants will possess a bachelor's degree in emergency management or directly related field and considerable supervisory experience in emergency service delivery.

    State certification in Emergency Management is highly desired.

    Salary begins at $88,248 dependent upon qualifications.

    SALARY: $38,496.00 annually plus benefits package

    DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Duties involve interviewing the customer, verifying information, determining eligibility, maintaining the record, and making changes to the record. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary. The worker in this position must have excellent computer skills, have the ability to read and interpret policy, job aids, and change notices and have the ability to work within a specialized automated system (NCFAST).

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of program/area of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to work within structured timeframes, communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker I is required for an Income Maintenance Caseworker II. Candidates may qualify for an Income Maintenance Caseworker I with: Graduation from an accredited bachelor degree program; Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR BI-LINGUAL SKILLS AND/OR DSS EXPERIENCE.
