    Position Title: Tactical Support Engineer (SE) - Mid

    Primary Duty Location: Pope Field, NC

    Position Overview:

    The Tactical Support Engineer (SE) - Mid provides direct support to mission planning, execution, and post-mission technical integration for U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF). This support includes tactical software, geospatial mapping, network administration, training, and hardware/software maintenance across USSOCOM, Component Commands, TSOCs, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) partners. Engineers at both mid and senior levels ensure readiness of mission systems with 95% availability and <24-hour turnaround time for CONUS/OCONUS locations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Support mission planning, execution, and post-mission analysis using tactical systems/devices in alignment with SOCOM and Component SOPs.Maintain tactical systems/software/devices in serviceable condition with Level I and Level II response cycles.Provide system support across five functional areas:Tactical Software SupportMapping, Imagery, and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS)Tactical Network AdministrationUser Training and Field SupportSystem Enhancement, Integration, and Upgrade SupportPlan, prepare, and validate unit mission data and flight plans for both peacetime and wartime SOF operations.Deliver user-level and advanced training on all assigned systems, including TAK, mission planning software, and communications platforms.Interface with WEPTAC offices to synchronize operational mission plans.Ensure compliance with STIGs, ATOs, ATCs, and cybersecurity requirements.Support coordination with USSOCOM programs (e.g., TACLAN) to test, integrate, and field new technologies.Maintain TAK servers and perform GIS data processing, including NGA updates and FAA-compliant SOA map data production.Serve as Help Desk Tier 1-3 support for tactical mission planning systems.

    Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline; OR Technical School Certificate; OR equivalent technical training and experience aligned with duties.

    Required Qualifications:

    2+ years of operational experience with or supporting the assigned SOF Component within the last 8 years.5+ years of experience in mission planning, system integration, communications systems, or navigation support for SOF aircraft or operations.Familiarity with unit SOPs, tactical mission guides, and operational planning software.Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot mission systems in austere environments.Expertise in managing geographically dispersed teams and leading training efforts.Experience coordinating system support with STIG/ATO/ATC, U.S. Government agencies, and USSOCOM enterprise programs.Skilled in GIS data processing, FAA/NGA compliance, and SOA map validation.Capable of serving as a technical SME for all fielded systems/software and providing Help Desk Tier 1-3 support.Possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+) and expertise in customer-specific planning and execution tools.Ability to mentor and less experienced SEs.Develop and deliver training curricula.Participate in technology integration and test/evaluation events.Participate during capability planning and interoperability meetings.ACTIVE Secret with TS Eligibility (SCI eligibility required for designated sites)

    Preferred Skills & Tools:

    Proficiency in TAK/ATAK/WinTAK systems and server managementExperience with mission planning suites (JMPS, PFPS, or Component-specific tools)Familiarity with SOF TTPs and airborne mission setsNetwork and systems troubleshooting expertiseStrong instructional and technical writing skills for training material development

    Position Title: Network Security Administrator


    Position Overview:

    S2Technologies is actively seeking a Network Security Administrator required to assist the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) with creating and maintaining the United States Prompt Diagnostic System (USPDS), which falls under the National Technical Nuclear Forensics (NTNF) mission. The NTNF leverages AFTAC to detect, identify, and characterize nuclear events and to report nuclear forensic information to national authorities. The USPDS is a fully integrated, terrestrially based, geographically dispersed, centrally managed prompt detection and reporting system. It provides the ability to collect, process, transmit, and analyze forensic data phenomena. The Network Administrator must have experience in identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring network performance. The Network Administrator will be responsible for the following functions: device IOS updates, maintenance and configuration for routing, maintenance and coordination of commercial circuits from AFTAC to sensor or communications node locations, network availability monitoring, log monitoring and problem monitoring. Additionally, Network Administration personnel will accomplish documentation, including updating continuity folders with current network configuration and maintenance information. These devices will have to comply with CNDSP certification compliance. This candidate must hold an IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ or equivalent) IAW DoD-8570 requirements.


    Required Qualifications:

    5-8 years of relevant experience in network design, planning, installation, testing, performance evaluation, and securityHands-on experience with networking equipment from multiple vendors, including OS updates, remote device routing, and coordination of commercial circuitsStrong understanding of network and computer hardware/software interconnection and interface technologies (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, cellular modems)Proven ability to implement network specifications by collaborating with users, analyzing workflows, and applying security requirementsSkilled in selecting, installing, configuring, and testing network equipmentProficient in monitoring network availability, evaluating performance issues, and maintaining logsAdvanced proficiency in Linux environmentsKnowledge of the OSI model, LAN/WAN architectures, TCP/IP protocols, VPNs, and IKE configurationsExperience securing networks through access control, monitoring, and evaluationAbility to develop and maintain accurate documentation, including network configurations, maintenance records, and technical reportsStrong communication skills-both written and verbal-with the ability to create business correspondence, procedural manuals, and deliver presentationsCapable of solving practical problems and interpreting instructions delivered in various formatsContribute to the development and refinement of network standards

    Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

    USPDS Experience. Familiarity with United States Personnel Data Systems (USPDS), including configuration, maintenance, and operational support.PDO Experience. Prior exposure to Program Data Overview (PDO) processes or tools, particularly in defense or government environments.Commercial Network Expertise. Demonstrated ability to work with commercial network infrastructure, including setup, troubleshooting, and integration with secure systems.AFTAC Experience supporting or working within the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) or similar mission-driven organizations.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations, policies, and planning documents, and apply them to technical and operational tasks.

    Required Security Clearance: Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility


    Required Certification(s): Candidates must hold a current certification that meets DoD IAT Level II requirements, such as CompTIA Security+ CE, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), or ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)


    Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) preferred but not required


    Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000
