Rutherford County is seeking an experienced and compassionate Chief Medical Examiner to lead the Office of the Medical Examiner and Regional Forensic Center. This position serves a critical role in protecting public health and supporting the justice system through medicolegal death investigations, forensic pathology, and leadership of forensic operations.
As Chief Medical Examiner, you will oversee forensic pathology staff, perform autopsies and postmortem examinations, determine cause and manner of death, preserve evidentiary integrity, collaborate with law enforcement and legal partners, and serve as an expert witness in court proceedings. This position also provides leadership during mass fatality incidents and ensures compliance with accreditation standards and state laws.
Essential Responsibilities

Rutherford County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state of Tennessee. We are currently seeking dependable Emergency Medical Technicians that can work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. As an EMT, you will respond to medical transport calls and provide basic life support to sick/injured persons in pre-hospital settings. You will also maintain readiness for medical response, assessing condition of patients, providing basic life support at emergency scenes, transporting patients to medical facilities, operating/utilizing/maintaining medical equipment, preparing charts and records, and performing other tasks as assigned.
A basic EMT will start out on our convalescent side and work to gain the experience needed to move over to 911 in the future. You will learn and improve skills such as patient care, lifting and moving techniques, driving ambulances, as well as all equipment such as automatic lifts. Shifts are six days a week, closed on Sundays, with varying hours mostly 12 hours or more without 24-hour shifts. We run 6 trucks a day and do 20-25 calls. The flexible schedule is done a month in advance.
