    Job Title: SMT Operator I - 1st Shift

    Type: Full time

    SMT Operator Job Description: The SMT operator monitors and maintains equipment used to create electronic circuits with surface mount technology (SMT). Under direction, this position will be responsible for operating the SMT machines to ensure efficient and accurate production. This will include selective solder, conformal coating and wave solder equipment. Operator will need to make minor adjustments to programs where needed to ensure quality of material produced.

    SMT Operator Job Responsibilities:


    Essential Job Functions:

    Run selective solder, conformal coating and wave solder equipment.Learn machine functions and to make proper adjustments to setup to ensure quality of materials produced.Attend in-house IPC Certification.Maintain records of production runs for analysis and review.Assist with troubleshooting failures that appear during product testing and perform rework as instructedEnsure projects are maintained and paperwork is turned in with produced materials.Perform cycle count on stock materials where needed.Additional tasks as assigned.

    Qualification Requirements: High School Diploma, and 2-5 years’ experience in an SMT environment. Working computer knowledge essential to run equipment. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Able to stand and walk for long periods. Good mechanical and electronic skills.

    Creates and writes CNC programs using CAM computer and/or programming language of CNC machine. Sets up and runs CNC machines.Completes paperwork to maintain records and department standards. Reads complex blueprints and /or job orders for product specification such as dimensions and tolerance.Reads tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and determines sequence of operations. Selects tool, positions and secures tool holder (chuck, collet, or tool post). Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures. Designs and make moderate fixtures and holding devices. Sets up complex fixturesObserve operation of machine and verify conformance of machine work piece to specifications. Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes products to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. Completes paperwork to maintain records, fills out inspection reports, and department standards. Reads moderately difficult blueprints or job orders for product specification such as dimensions and tolerance.Reads tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds depth of cut.Secures tooling in tool holder (chuck, collet, and tool post). Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures. Loads proper CNC programs into the control. Responsible for achieving the desired quality level on parts manufactured personally and by lower level machinists and operators, with the highest degree of labor efficiency possible.
