Rev1 Energy is seeking an experienced Lead Instrument & Controls (I&C) Technician/Specialist to support planned outages, startup activities, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational readiness efforts at combined cycle power generation facilities. This position requires a hands-on professional with strong field experience in instrumentation, controls, and power plant commissioning.
The ideal candidate will be based in the Tampa, Florida area and possess a proven background supporting gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, balance-of-plant, and distributed control system (DCS) activities during outages and commissioning projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Instrument & Controls activities during plant outages, startups, and commissioning efforts.Perform loop checks, point-to-point verification, calibration, and functional testing of instrumentation and control systems.Support commissioning and startup of:Gas TurbinesSteam TurbinesHRSG SystemsBalance of Plant EquipmentTroubleshoot instrumentation, analyzers, transmitters, control valves, and electrical interfaces.Execute and document commissioning procedures, test reports, and punch list items.Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, OEMs, and Contractors.Support DCS and PLC testing, logic verification, and system integration activities.Verify proper operation of:Pressure transmittersTemperature instrumentsFlow instrumentationLevel instrumentationControl valvesVibration monitoring systemsProtective relaying interfacesEnsure all work is performed in accordance with plant safety policies and procedures.Provide leadership and technical direction to technicians and commissioning personnel.Required Qualifications
8+ years of Instrument & Controls experience in power generation, industrial facilities, or heavy process industries.3+ years supporting combined cycle power plants.Experience supporting outages, commissioning, startup, or major maintenance projects.Strong understanding of:DCS Systems (Emerson Ovation, GE Mark VIe, Siemens SPPA-T3000, ABB, Honeywell, etc.)PLC SystemsInstrument calibration and troubleshootingControl valve diagnosticsLoop checking and commissioning proceduresAbility to read and interpret:P&IDsLoop DrawingsInstrument IndexesControl NarrativesElectrical SchematicsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications

Data Gathering Procedure for Arc Flash Risk Assessment
• Site Data Collection: Conduct comprehensive site surveys to gather electrical system data, including single-line diagrams, equipment nameplate details, and protective device settings.
• Equipment Identification: Identify and document all relevant electrical components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, relays, switchgear, and panels.
• Measurement and Verification: Perform field measurements of conductor lengths, cable sizes, and conduit details to ensure accurate input data.
• Load and Circuit Analysis: Record load data, operational settings, and circuit configurations to capture real-time electrical system behavior.
• Coordination with Site Teams: Collaborate with onsite engineers, electricians, and facility managers to ensure accurate data acquisition and address potential challenges.
• Data Validation: Review and validate collected data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness before analysis.
• Software Expertise: Utilize SKM Power Tools or ETAP to input data and perform preliminary modeling, analysis, and validation of electrical systems.
• Arc Flash Label Installation: Assist with or oversee the proper installation of arc flash labels on electrical equipment after the completion of the risk assessment to ensure compliance and enhance workplace safety.
• Compliance Assurance: Ensure that all gathered data complies with applicable safety standards, such as NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, and OSHA regulations.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed reports of gathered data, including photographs, schematics, and field notes, for use in arc flash risk analysis.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance data-gathering procedures and streamline workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
Preferred Skills and Expertise:
• Proficiency in SKM Power Tools or ETAP software for electrical system modeling and analysis.
• Familiarity with arc flash risk assessment methodologies, standards and label installation
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently in diverse industrial setting
This work will be headquartered out of Tampa, with Company Vehicle. Travel to site locations primarily in Florida.
