    Position Summary / What You’ll Do

    As a Senior Traffic Engineer / Technical Lead, you will lead the technical delivery of traffic engineering services across a range of projects, from intersection improvements to corridor and network-level studies. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams, ensuring technical excellence while influencing project strategy, mentoring staff, and contributing to the growth of RETTEW’s transportation practice.


    Responsibilities / Day-to-Day

    Serve as a technical lead on traffic engineering projects, providing direction, oversight, and quality controlLead traffic impact studies, signal design, corridor studies, and safety evaluationsAnalyze complex transportation challenges and develop innovative, data-driven solutionsOversee preparation and review of plans, specifications, and technical reports for accuracy and complianceCoordinate with PennDOT, municipalities, MPOs, and other stakeholders to advance projects and secure approvalsSupport and contribute to proposals, scopes, and budgets, helping position RETTEW for continued growthMentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, fostering technical excellence and career progressionStay current with evolving standards and best practices, including MUTCD, AASHTO, and PennDOT requirements


    Qualifications


    Required

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain8+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering or transportation designDemonstrated experience serving as a technical lead or senior project contributorProficiency in traffic analysis and modeling tools such as Synchro, HCS, or VISSIMStrong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills


    Preferred

    PTOE certificationExperience with PennDOT ECMS and project delivery processesExperience mentoring, coaching, or supervising technical staffInvolvement in client development, proposal support, or business development
