We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join the Retherford Custom Homes field team. This role will support a variety of residential construction tasks, including framing, trim, repairs, punch work, installations, and general carpentry. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working with a team, and proud of producing clean, high-quality work.
This position is for an experienced carpenter who takes pride in high-quality residential construction work. Retherford Custom Homes is not looking for the cheapest or lowest-standard work; we are looking for skilled people who care about craftsmanship and doing the job right.
Key responsibilities:
Perform carpentry work on custom homes, renovations, and expansion projectsAssist with framing, trim, doors, windows, cabinetry, hardware, blocking, repairs, and punch list itemsRead and follow basic plans, measurements, and project instructionsUse hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and correctlyKeep the jobsite clean, organized, and safeWork closely with the Crew Foreman and Site SuperintendentHelp load, unload, move, and organize materials as neededIdentify quality issues and communicate them to field leadershipRepresent the company professionally on client properties and jobsitesComplete carpentry work with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and craftsmanship.Support a jobsite culture where work is done correctly, safely, and to a high standard.Qualifications:

Working Foreman - Construction

We are hiring a Working Foreman to lead field crews on custom residential construction projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can guide carpenters and laborers, keep work moving, maintain quality standards, and jump in wherever needed. The Crew Foreman will work closely with the Site Superintendent and leadership team to ensure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and with excellent craftsmanship.This is a working foreman position, not a supervisor-only role. The right person will have their tool belt on, work alongside the crew, and take ownership of keeping the team productive and focused on quality work.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate daily work for carpenters, helpers, and field crew membersAssign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work is completed correctlyPerform hands-on carpentry and construction tasks as neededHelp maintain project schedule, jobsite organization, and workflowRead and follow plans, layouts, scopes of work, and direction from the Site SuperintendentEnsure proper use of tools, materials, and equipmentMaintain jobsite cleanliness and safety standardsCommunicate material needs, delays, issues, and completed work to the Site SuperintendentTrain and support crew members to improve quality and efficiencyWork hands-on alongside the crew while leading daily field activities.Take responsibility for the productivity, quality, and accountability of crew members.Help ensure work is completed to high craftsmanship standards, not rushed or done at the lowest possible quality.Qualifications:
Strong residential construction and carpentry experiencePrevious experience leading a crew or small team preferredAbility to read plans, use tools safely, and understand construction sequencingStrong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detailGood communication and leadership skillsAbility to keep a crew productive while maintaining quality standardsValid driver's license and reliable transportationExperience in custom homes, renovations, framing, trim, or finish work is a plusMust be willing and able to perform hands-on work daily while leading the crew.Experience using JobTread, BuilderTrend or similar construction project management software is a plus.Pay and benefits:

Residential Construction Site Superintendent
Location: Florence, AL / Northwest Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee project sites
Note: Candidates should be able to travel to project sites primarily in Lauderdale County, with additional work in Colbert County and Lawrence County as needed.
