Responsibilities Include:
The ID/OD Grinder is responsible for operating and maintaining grinding equipment to fabricate high-quality precision components. Expertise in setting up and running ID/OD grinding machines coupled with meticulous attention to detail to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and tight tolerances.Set up and operate ID/OD grinding machines to craft precision parts based on engineering drawings and specifications.Execute grinding operations on diverse materials, such as metals, alloys, and chrome, to attain desired dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.Possess knowledge of working properties of Aerospace metals and skill with Grinding Machines to plan, Set-Up & carry out the operations needed to make ground products that meet their precise specifications.Able to read blueprints.Adjust machine settings as required to optimize production efficiency, surface finish and uphold quality standards.Employ precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to scrutinize finished parts and ensure adherence to specifications.Identify and troubleshoot issues pertaining to machine performance, tooling and workpiece quality and implement corrective measures as necessary.Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures to foster a secure working environment for oneself and colleagues.Maintain meticulous records of production activities, encompassing machine settings, tooling changes and inspection outcomes, in accordance with company policies and regulations.
Required Skills:
Minimum 3-5 years ID/OD Grinding experience (Manual & ID/OD Grinders).Mechanically inclined individual with good problem-solving ability.Able to produce accurate work (tolerances reach +/-.0005” of an inch).Mathematical machining skills required.Proficient working with conventional & ID/OD grinders.Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent.

Job Responsibilities:
Participate in Production and Engineering meetings.Coordinate and review brazing applications with Engineering.Participate in 5s Training and update 5s tracking log.Communicate with sales staff and Engineers to resolve customer issues in a timely manner.Create and update internal procedures.Review and sign 8130 packages for shipment.Review completed routers for accuracy and prepare for scanning.Proof new repairs for accuracy and completeness prior to release.Review and audit routers for corrections, omissions, and updates.Create rework and warranty routers.Contact and obtain corrected certifications from suppliers.Conduct annual Internal Audits, scheduled External Supplier Audits and resolve issues of External Suppliers.Verify Supplier audits conducted on schedule.Assist Accountable Manager during audit preparation.Conduct annual Product and Job Audits.Create and track internal and external correction action responses.NDT Level II and Level III contact including Technical Sheet approvals.Determine and track Equipment Preventative Maintenance.Main contact for CUPA/CERS and update online account.Review military parts with DCMA representative (when needed).Manage Vision Exams of appropriate personnel are conducted on schedule.Manage warranty program – determine actual warranty claim and release parts to shop.Create and update Warranty log.Create Internal and External Non-Conformance Reports, include determining how to prevent recurrence.Inspect parts from outside suppliers, update routers, and release parts to shop.Perform hardness testing and operate Profilometer to determine surface finish.Operate CMM for final and in-process inspections (when needed).Manage Shelf-Life program and dispose of expired items.Create purchase orders for shelf-life materials (when needed).Manage measuring instrument calibration program which includes calibrating majority of instrument inventory. Create purchase orders for outside calibrations.Manage liquid waste inventory and removal.Photograph parts and email to applicable parties.Operate and repair high temp oven.Track and record inspection room temperatures.Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections and manage recertification with supplier.
Requirements:
Must add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent.Certified Level 1 NDT auditor and/or ability to become certified.Word, Excel, ERP System or experience with in-house database system.Ability to read and apply precision measuring instrument to blue print requirements.Possess good inter personal and motivational skills.Prepare layouts, including prototype work.Meet production schedules and deadlines on time.Contribute to methods improvement program.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality assurance, or related field or in lieu of a degree, 4 years minimum experience working as an engineer in the relevant field.Understanding of mechanical systems and inspection processes, including in-process inspection and dimensional inspection.10-15 years experience in Quality environment with 5 years as a supervisor or manager in machining techniques and manufacturing.3 to 5 years lean manufacturing with ability to implement conceptual ideas to the shop floor.FAA Certified Repair.Read Less
