    Job Summary:

    The PLC Technician is responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used within Refresco facilities. The PLC Tech inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. May support repairs and installations for other advanced production/manufacturing equipment. The PLC Tech diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes more complicated repairs or adjustments as needed.

    Shift: Nights (6pm - 3am)

    Essential Job Functions: Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working. Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements. Lead and participate in troubleshooting activities during equipment failures, collaborating with the production team to analyze, resolve, and prevent issues through investigation, testing, and follow-up. Maintenance, testing and upgrading of all production equipment. Installation and testing of new food manufacturing, packaging and processing equipment. Interface with machine tools and special equipment or test modules, troubleshoot existing equipment for electrical or electronics failures and change or modify machines to improve or update. Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC and automation issues, including faulty components and wiring. Calibrate and test equipment to ensure accurate performance and compliance with specifications. Assist with PLC system upgrades and improvements to optimize production efficiency and safety. Modify existing programs for system optimization, new process requirements, or enhanced safety protocols. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, programming changes, and upgrades. Train other team members on basic PLC functions and troubleshooting as needed. Preventative maintenance and repair when required in addition to planned mechanical maintenance duties. Participate in a continuous improvement culture while following safe workplace practices. Develop positive and respectful interactions with managers, supervisors, maintenance technicians, and machine operators. Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance system reliability and reduce costs. Required Skills: Must be able to use RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500, or RS Logix 5 software for machine troubleshooting. Must be able to go online with Control Logix, Compact Logix, SLC500, or PLC5 using either Ethernet I/P, DH+, or RS232. Must be able to download PLC program if necessary. Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics. Must be able to use a multimeter and work in control panels with up to 480VAC. Understands symbols on P&ID's and tag references on line layout drawing. Should be able to replace and configure AB Powerflex 40, 400, and 525 VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and Yaskawa V1000 and P1000 VFDs. Should be able to replace Panelview and Panelview Plus devices and download applications using Panelbuilder 32 or RS View Studio Machine Edition. Aptitude for further development of technical skills. Competencies: Decisive, pro-active, self-motivated and assertive. Strong interpersonal and developed communication skills. Data analysis and identification of trends. Internal customer focus with the ability to adapt to the variable demands of the business. Ability to demonstrate working under initiative and think things through to solution. Education and Experience: Three (3) plus years' experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance required. Preference will be given to candidates with a Rockwell Maintainer or equivalent Certificate, though it must be obtained within the first 24 months of employment if not already held. Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs required. Electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair skills required. Candidates will be required to take a Maintenance Skills Assessment in order to be considered. Working Conditions: Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evenings, overnight and holidays may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed. Work Environment: Operating in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection and temperatures can get very hot and/or relatively cold.     Responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic:

    Effectively complete facility related preventive and proactive maintenance. Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown while collaborating with other departments. Prioritizes work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools and utility systems to minimize manufacturing downtime and completes all required paperwork and documentation in the appropriate systems. Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices. Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Analyze test results, error messages or information obtained from others to diagnose equipment problems. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards. Support the facility's food safety and food quality programs to assure compliance and achieve desired results. Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

    Education & Experience:

    Three (3) plus years' experience in industrial facilities maintenance required, preferably experience with ammonia, plumbing, welding, electrical, machine tools and water and wastewater treatment. Candidates will be required to take a Mechanical Skills Ramsay Assessment in order to be considered.

    Position-Specific Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to work flexible hours if needed, including holidays.

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to wear respirator and respond to ammonia alarms up to ammonia concentration specified by company. Must pass ammonia operator training for levels one and two at Garden City Ammonia Program or equivalent. Must pass Level 1 operator training within 6 months and level 2 within 18 months of starting Utilities positions. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and/or walk for extended periods of time on concrete surface. Must be able to repeatedly kneel, bend, crouch, reach, climb and/or stoop throughout the shift as needed to successfully perform job duties. Must be able to work on multiple levels, such as catwalks, ladders, lifts, etc. & ability to work in extreme temperatures.

    Position Description

    Reporting to the Department Manager, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work including developing, scheduling, optimizing, analyzing, budgeting and closing of work orders.

    Essential Functions:

    Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements.Responsible for maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Manage the work order process to ensure a robust and thorough use of the system.Track activities and communicate effectively to all stakeholders.Optimize maintenance plans and schedules for predictive, preventive, routine, scheduled and emergency maintenance services to production, utility operations and infrastructure systems as necessary to provide for safe operations, regulatory compliance and equipment availability related to equipment and systems plant wide.Coordinate work and work closely with planning and production on needed line downtime and prioritization of activities.Collaborate with Parts Coordinators to develop, implement and optimize kitting process.Ensure all equipment in the plant is in the CMMS with all necessary PMs in place.Work closely with maintenance technicians to ensure work is completed on time and in full.Improve current maintenance systems and monitor the processes.Set up any new equipment PMs into the CMMS.Track Maintenance KPIs and develop and execute improvement plans in support of the Maintenance Manager.Support continuous improvement activities and best practice reapplication between areas.Plan, schedule and track 3rd party vendors and ensure activities are accurately reflected in CMMS while adhering to the budget.Fill in as a backup for the Parts Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor as necessary.Train maintenance staff to effectively utilize the CMMS.Manages resources effectively to meet both deadlines/promise dates as well as financial and production targets.Assist in the monitoring of daily, weekly, yearly PM programs.

    Required Skills

    Experience in Food/ Beverage Manufacturing preferred.Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP and Power Point.Must have experience setting and maintaining a budget.Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus.Technically strong understanding manufacturing and packaging equipment and processes as well as complex diagrams.Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes.Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices.Strong multi-tasking competency.Flexibility to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary.Comfortable working independently and showing initiative.

    Position Description

    Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Supervisor Maintenance is responsible for providing leadership for the maintenance functions, ensuring proper preventive maintenance of physical plant and all operating equipment, electrical troubleshooting, minimizing equipment downtime to provide maximum production capacity, and compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

    Shift: Night, 6pm to 3am (hours may vary based on production needs)

    Essential Job Functions:

    Adhere to and ensure compliance to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and PPE requirements.Adhere to and ensure compliance to food quality and food safety as per the standard(s) provided by corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (ex. SQF).Leads and directs the work of other employees.Have some authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, or disciplinary actions.Continuously improving manufacturing processes in terms of quality and performance measurements and identifying and eliminating bottleneck areas.Seek to ensure reliability of plant and equipment operation while optimizing maintenance and operation costs and satisfying all safety, environmental etc. regulations in the process.Identify and solve safety concerns encountered during design and study of manufacturing processesDevise hands on improvement processes to reduce scrap and defects while improving throughput and document SOPs and the implementation of Best Practices into the facility. Assist in coordinating the installation of new equipment to maximize production efficiency and maintainability.Work with production to make modifications to equipment and work areas for maximum efficiency of operation.Maintain a knowledge base in the capacity of existing utilities and the current level of utilization.Stay abreast of the latest safety, environmental and other regulations which affect the facility to ensure compliance.Support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance of the equipment and the facility to ensure the company receives maximum utilization of its assets.Implement and ensure compliance with the systems designed by the manager, focusing on execution and direct oversight.Assist in keeping written documentation of environmental compliance current.Periodically prepare reports to satisfy environmental and safety regulations and ensure a safe and professional work environment.Reviews, evaluates, counsels, disciplines and discharges employees as necessary to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements.Evaluates and recommends improvements to product manufacturability.Ensure compliance to all OHSA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance.Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization.Oversee effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure the correct administration of the collective Bargaining Agreement (if applicable).

    Position Description

    Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Supervisor Maintenance is responsible for providing leadership for the maintenance functions, ensuring proper preventive maintenance of physical plant and all operating equipment, electrical troubleshooting, minimizing equipment downtime to provide maximum production capacity, and compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance.Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization.Oversee effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure the correct administration of the collective Bargaining Agreement (if applicable).

    Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required. Undergraduate degree in a related field preferred.5-7 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing facility

    Position Description

    Responsibilities and Duties 

    Maintains daily work log documenting the salient equipment/process incidents requiring follow-up actions.Participates in, and supports, the department safety training program. (I.E.: weekly safety meetings, shop safety inspections, enforcement of lock-out/tag-out program, Arc Flash/Shock Hazard Program, enforcement of the confined space program, etc.).Conducts accident investigation of all injuries requiring medical attention (or as requested by Plant management).Assesses the skills and abilities of assigned personnel and develops training opportunities to close the skills gap.

    Development of the Weekly Work Schedule

    Receives approved schedules together with relevant work orders and other planning documents from the planner/scheduler. Discusses work schedule as necessary to understand special instructions or considerations to be observed in the execution of the jobs and reviews new jobs coming up in the future.Coordinates work process improvement actions to streamline the accomplishment of the work schedule.Supervises the quality of workmanship of assigned work crew by auditing work during and after work completion.Adjusts weekly work schedule each day to ensure adequate work coverage based upon the work order priority and craft availability.Reviews the actual labor expended versus estimated labor and material used for completed jobs, in order to determine corrective measures needed to improve the accuracy of estimating and improving methods of doing work.Assists planner in examination of jobs to be done and determination of scope and best way to accomplish the work.Obtains blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources.     Work Process

    Notes equipment/process performance improvement opportunities, opens work requests to document improvement suggestions, and facilitates equipment improvement opportunities by working with the Planning & Scheduling to effect necessary planning and work scheduling.Acts as the principle contact between Production Supervision and the Maintenance Department.Ensures the production areas receive prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenance function and ensures the maintenance function is given the opportunity to provide this service.Coordinates plant maintenance requirements with the Planner/Scheduler to effect necessary upgrades, modifications and repairs.Keeps the Maintenance Manager properly informed on all abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside of the supervisor’s knowledge or authority.Utilizes data to analyze equipment failure modes, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), etc. and suggests/implements improvement processes to reduce or eliminate equipment/process failures (I.E.: PM inspection improvements, predictive maintenance techniques, maintenance employee training, etc.).

    Preventative Maintenance Program

    Assists the Planner/Scheduler in the development of PM inspections for new/existing equipment.Ensures Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections are completed as written in the work order.Recommends additional PM inspection tasks as a result of equipment failure mode analysis, MTBF, and other statistical means to identify possible equipment failure events.Recommends PM inspection frequencies (days, cans or cases produced, hours, etc.).Works with the Planner/Scheduler to implement production based PM frequency rates (I.E.: bottle counts, case counts, hours of operations, etc.) to reduce over-inspecting equipment and wasting maintenance labor.

    Total Productive Manufacturing

    Participates in and champions the TPM Professional Maintenance process.Maintains the PM Pillar Board current and is prepared to brief Pillar Board contents anytime.Drives relentless reduction of breakdown losses through Breakdown Analysis and other appropriate Focused Improvement Tools.Supports the Autonomous Maintenance process by providing training and support, as appropriate.Leads the development of Asset Maintenance Plans for all assigned plant critical assets.Supports the Maintenance Prevention effort in support of the Early Equipment Management Pillar.

    Requirements

    Education & Experience:

    Undergraduate Degree (or equivalent experience) plus four (4) years experience in a high speed manufacturing environment with a mechanical/electrical background required.Strong leadership capabilities in a fast-paced production environment required.Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent is highly desired.Previous experience in the food/beverage manufacturing industry preferred.

    Position-Specific Skills:

    Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, & Outlook) with the ability to learn new applications as required.An understanding of SQF, responsibility for Food Safety /Food Quality and the responsibility to take action when notified or becomes aware of any Food Safety or Food Quality issue.Must be flexible to work alternate shifts if production needs allow.

Assist in coordinating the installation of new equipment to maximize production efficiency and maintainability.Work with production to make modifications to equipment and work areas for maximum efficiency of operation.Maintain a knowledge base in the capacity of existing utilities and the current level of utilization.Stay abreast of the latest safety, environmental and other regulations which affect the facility to ensure compliance.Support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance of the equipment and the facility to ensure the company receives maximum utilization of its assets.Implement and ensure compliance with the systems designed by the manager, focusing on execution and direct oversight.Assist in keeping written documentation of environmental compliance current.Periodically prepare reports to satisfy environmental and safety regulations and ensure a safe and professional work environment.Reviews, evaluates, counsels, disciplines and discharges employees as necessary to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements.Evaluates and recommends improvements to product manufacturability.Ensure compliance to all OHSA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance.Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization.Oversee effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure the correct administration of the collective Bargaining Agreement (if applicable).

    Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required. Undergraduate degree in a related field preferred.5-7 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing facility

    Required Skills:

    Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP and Power Point.Proven Leadership experience in a Production environment.Strong team player who can work across multiple functions.Ability to analyze and solve problems, results oriented.Able to work under deadline pressures.Organized and detail oriented, adaptable to change.
