Summary
As a member of our maintenance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the brickwork, tuckpointing and exterior ongoing maintenance of our diverse portfolio of residential apartments and homes. The focus is primarily exterior work but you may be asked to assist on other facets of property repairs including general maintenance. These other projects will involve a wide range of tasks focused on improving both the interior and exterior cosmetics and systems of our properties. While proficiency in all areas is not required, the focus of this job is for tuckpointing, brickwork and exterior, with the additional work secondary. The following skills and responsibilities are integral to the position:
Responsibilities
Remove old mortar: Use a grinder or hammer and chisel to remove old mortar from joints between bricksMix mortar: Add water to mortar to the desired consistency and colorFill joints: Use a joint filler tool to push new mortar into the jointsFinish joints: Use a jointing tool to create a smooth, finished lookApply contrasting lines: Use putty to create thin, contrasting lines inside the mortarInspect brickwork: Check for defective blocks and other damageApply sealants: Waterproof underground masonry surfaces and apply sealantsPrepare reports: Write reports on work activityRemove and Relay brickwork: Correct shifted or water damaged bricks, parapet walls, chimneys, etc.Skills

Perform general make-ready and repair tasks for apartments and homes, encompassing a variety of projectsPerform wall repair, painting, plastering, and drywall installation and repairInstall and trim various flooring types, such as vinyl, ceramic, plank, and tileExecute general building repairs and maintenance for building systems including electrical, plumbing, hvac, general.Replace and repair electrical fixtures, outlets, and switchesAddress plumbing leaks, including sink, drain, and toilet repairs, as well as fixture installations and drain line repairs and replacementsConduct roofing and gutter repairs, with a primary focus on flat roofsPerform tuckpointing to maintain the brick exterior of our propertiesCarry out grass cutting, landscaping, and general upkeep, including tasks like mulching and weed removalAssist with property cleanouts and general cleaning dutiesConduct minor HVAC repairs and troubleshootingQualifications
Proven experience in tuckpointing and bricklaying, maintenance or a similar role within property management.Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot building systems effectively.Familiarity with using tools needed for repair and upgrades to residential propertiesExcellent communication and ability to operate modern phones and apps for communication on workorders..Customer service orientation to ensure tenant satisfaction during maintenance interactions.Requirements for this position include relevant maintenance experience, a reliable and functional vehicle, basic tools, and an Apple or Android smartphone capable of running the necessary applications used by our company.
