    PROJECT MANAGER – COMMERCIAL INTERIORS RE Management Solutions (REMS)

    POSITION SUMMARY

    As a Project Manager at REMS, you will oversee all aspects of assigned commercial office renovation projects — from initial planning through project close-out — acting as the Owner's Representative for high-profile clients. You will collaborate closely with clients, design teams, contractors, and vendors to drive successful project execution across all phases of design and construction.

    Candidates with commercial interiors experience within the utilities sector will be given preference.

    This role requires a minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience working within a general contracting or architecture firm. Candidates without this background will not be considered.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Owner's Representation: Serve as the primary Owner's Representative with limited oversight, managing client interests across all project phases with a thorough understanding of design and construction processes.Multi-Project Management: Concurrently manage multiple commercial renovation projects, ensuring adherence to technical, regulatory, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.Project Planning & Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive project plans including schedules, budgets, phasing strategies, and detailed scope assumptions.Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary client liaison throughout the project lifecycle — from defining requirements and scope during preconstruction through construction completion and turnover.Budget & Schedule Management: Build detailed project budgets using historical data, RS Means, and market benchmarks, encompassing hard costs, soft costs, and FF&E. Create and maintain master project schedules, managing execution within intended timeframes.Design & Construction Oversight: Guide clients and project teams through all design phases (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, and signoff) and construction. Review, interpret, and redline architectural and MEP drawings using Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, and ACC.Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors. Prepare RFPs, manage procurement and selection processes, and oversee performance against contractual obligations.Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, including potential liabilities and errors and omissions.Quality & Safety: Implement and enforce the Company's Safety and Quality Control Programs across all projects.Documentation & Administration: Manage all project documentation via SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite. Process change orders, RFIs, and submittals; prepare meeting minutes, agendas, budgets, and reports. Utilize Procore for construction management workflows.Value Engineering: Lead value engineering efforts and propose alternative solutions to optimize cost and schedule outcomes.Site Presence: Travel independently to project and construction sites as needed; ability to commit to up to 5 days on-site depending on project demands. During active construction periods, on-site hours may begin as early as 6:00 AM through 2:00 PM.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

    Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a directly related field7+ years of progressive experience in project management within a general contracting firm or architecture firm — this is a firm requirement3–5 years of progressive design and construction PM experience on commercial office or interiors projects3+ years of experience functioning as an Owner's RepresentativeExperience managing commercial office renovation projects with construction values in excess of $5MActive PMP certification, or commitment to obtain within 12 months of hireStrong MEP and architectural knowledge, with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsProficiency in MS Office Suite (SharePoint, Excel, Word), Adobe Acrobat, and RS MeansHands-on experience with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Revit, ACC), Bluebeam, and ProcoreStrong financial management skills, including budget development, cost tracking, and forecastingExcellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a client-first mindsetProven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently deliver on time and within budget

    Preferred

    Experience in the utilities sector (commercial interiors)PMP certification already active at time of application

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    INTRODUCTION

    RE Management Solutions (REMS) currently has an opening for an Assistant Project Manager in Lombard, IL. With headquarters in Baltimore, MD, REMS is continuing to grow and expand its client base across the East Coast.

     

    Our project teams lead clients through the full commercial real estate process, from site selection, planning, design, construction, and turnover. We serve as the owners’ representative, acting as an extension of their organization while overseeing and providing support for the entire project team (general contractors, architects, engineers, etc.).

     

    JOB SUMMARY

    Responsible for providing all aspects of support on assigned pre-development and construction projects and programs. The Assistant Project Manager will support the project team, produce reports as required to keep the project on track and manage various aspects of a project as needed and assigned by the Project Manager

     

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Provide assistance on all phases of a project, from concept through design and construction, to occupancy of the facility

    · Oversee aspects of the project as assigned

    · Organize, track, and maintain project documentation using SharePoint and other Microsoft products.

    · Review and interpret design drawings

    · Assist in the preparation and management of meeting minutes, agendas, budgets, schedules, and various reports

    · Process and review change orders, RFIs, and submittals

    · Coordinate with project stakeholders as required and appropriate

    · Conduct site visits, as directed by the Project Manager

     

    KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS/ABILITIES

    Minimum Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university with preference given to a degree focused on architecture, engineering, or construction. Project management experience focused on IT, furniture, architecture, engineering, and/or construction will be considered in lieu of a degree.

    · Minimum 1-year related work experience

    · Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office; Construction Project Management software preferred.

    · Self-motivated and self-directed

    · Able to effectively multitask, prioritize, and efficiently manage time.

    · Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    · Able to analyze problems, strategize, and implement effective solutions

    · Able to build solid relationships with vendors, investors, construction managers, and construction team

    · Ability/willingness to independently travel to and from project/construction sites as needed; valid driver’s license in good standing with any U.S. state MVA required if driving a vehicle for business purposes

     

    Physical Requirements: This position is performed, at times, in an office setting with extended periods of sitting and computer/keyboard use; reading documents; phone, and other electronic equipment. Minimal lifting (<20 lbs.), frequent standing, climbing and often traversing commercial site construction areas as needed; able to tolerate moderate construction dust, all types of weather, and uneven terrain.
