Job Description:
Looking to hire immediately a Civil Field Technician that is eager, energetic, and self-starter. The successful candidate shall provide project support and pavement testing using advanced technical equipment for data collection. Required to complete data quality management/testing and quality assurance while maintaining all technical equipment with some mechanical and computer automated experience. We will provide two-week hands-on training and four weeks of on-the-job training programs.
Detailed Work Activities:
• Conduct non-destructive testing on pavement surfaces at airports and roadways across the US (upon completion of a training program)
• Conduct visual pavement distress inspections using automated handheld GPS data collection with GIS technology on airfields and military installations (upon completion of a training program)
• Assist with coordinate and participating in field activities
• Equipment maintenance
• Material collection analysis with trailer mounted coring rig equipment on airports and roadways.
• Travel opportunities
• Hauling equipment to and from job site locations
Skills and Abilities:
• Self-motivated
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
• Organized and trustworthy
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to situations
• Versed in software applications and computer programs
• Lift up to 50lbs
Required Qualifications and Education:
• US Citizenship required
• State Driver’s License
• Minimum 2-year college educated or equivalent years of relevant experience
• Able to pass background check required for obtaining security clearance for airport and U.S. government contracts
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
While not required, it would be preferred if candidate had experience with the following:
• Field data collecting
• Surveying
• ArcGIS
• AutoCAD
• Pavement Experience or Civil Construction Background

Job Description:
· Perform field inspections to record existing conditions for development of CAD drawings.
· Prepare complete drawing sets using AutoCAD and Civil 3D using the sheet set manager.
· Develop and maintain CAD standards and detail databases for engineering firm.
· Provide occasional AutoCAD and Civil 3D training.
· Perform limited design of power, communication, airfield lighting, and navigational aid systems.
· Prepare electrical and civil construction specifications.
· Prepare electrical and civil quantity takeoffs from construction drawings.
· Work on teams with engineers, contractors, and others to address demanding design and construction matters.
· Conduct field inspections of work on construction sites to document progress and quality.
Schedule:
· Typically work a standard 8-hour day shift in the office, Monday to Friday
· Occasional local and multi-day travel required.
· Occasional night work required.
The position is located in Midlothian, VA. The position is on-site not remote work.
Education:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, design technology, or related field (preferred) or an additional 2-3 years equivalent work experience.
· AutoCAD training certificate(s) (preferred)
Experience:
· 5-6 years using CAD for facility & infrastructure design projects (required)
· Expert-level skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (required)
· Experience with electrical facility & utility design (preferred)
· Has developed CAD standards, managed CAD detail databases, and provided CAD training (preferred)
Other Requirements
· Possession of a Real ID Virginia driver’s license.
· Able to obtain security clearance for work on airports (required)

Key Responsibilities
Develop and prepare detailed civil engineering designs for airport pavements, roadways, drainage, grading, and related infrastructure using CAD softwareCreate and revise drawings, design models, simulations, and construction documents employing AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS tools.Assist with analysis of historical information, survey reports, maps, geotechnical data, and NDT (non-destructive testing) results to guide design decisions.Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and project planning assessments for civil infrastructure.Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, CAD technicians, and construction personnel to ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations and technical requirements.Ensure compliance with industry standards, FAA specifications, local codes, and safety regulations.Support construction-phase services, including reviewing submittals, answering RFIs, and performing site inspections to ensure conformance with design plans.Prepare technical reports including project history, design summaries, evaluation findings, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.5-10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in transportation, pavement, or site engineering / land development.Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with ArcGIS, MicroStation, or PAVERTM is a plus.Strong understanding of site grading, utility layout, drainage concepts, and civil design fundamentals.Ability to analyze technical data and prepare clear, comprehensive reports.U.S. Citizenship required for government and airport project eligibility.Ability to pass background checks required for access to secure facilities.Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Desire to collaborate and assist our trajectory as we continue our growth.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain is a plus.Experience with civil site design, pavement evaluation, airport projects, or roadway design.Familiarity with FAA standards and pavement management systems.Experience or desire performing field inspections, surveys, or pavement distress evaluations.
