    What You will Do:

    Develop detailed inspection plans for aerospace components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and regulatory standardsCollaborate with design and engineering teams to define the most appropriate inspection methods and criteria for new parts, assemblies, and systemsIdentify and select suitable inspection tools, techniques, and measurement equipment (Vernier, micrometer, radius optical, gaging, etc.)Establish acceptance criteria, and tolerances for aerospace products based on engineering drawings, material specifications, and industry standardsCreate and maintain detailed inspection reports, documentation, and records, ensuring that all inspection activities are traceable and compliant with regulatory requirementsDevelop inspection records that support traceability and certification, including first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspectionsEnsure that all inspection processes adhere to aerospace industry standards, including AS9100D, AS9102C, FAA and DCMA regulations, and customer-specific requirementsSupport internal and external audits related to inspection processes and quality assurance systemsInvestigate and perform root cause analysis for any quality issues or inspection failures, using tools such as 5 Whys, PFMEA, and Fishbone diagramsLead initiatives to improve inspection processes, reduce inspection times, and increase the accuracy and reliability of inspections
     

    What You Will Bring:

     Knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Understanding of inspection tools and equipment (calipers, micrometers, radius gages, etc.)Requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and propose corrective actionsGood working knowledge of Quality Management System QMS, AS9100D, and AS9102C requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.Experience in GD&TEffective communication and interpersonal skills \nCompany Description

    Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

     

    Work Requirements: We offer flexible work options, including hybrid arrangements, to support the need of the role and align with company policies. This position will be performed at supplier sites within the Blacksburg, VA, USA area. 

    You must be able to commute to and from the locations with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

    Travel Requirements: Due to the nature of the work, 50%+ of travel is required.

    What You'll Do:
    Support supply chain and production planning activities at OEM sites
    Monitor production schedules, MRP systems, WIP, and delivery commitments
    Identify bottlenecks, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions
    Develop and maintain Line of Balance (LOB) to improve production flow and on-time delivery

    What You Will Do:

    Prepare the First Article Inspection utilizing software such as DISCUS to balloon the drawing and compile the AS9102C package to release manufacturing to record the actuals associated with this process, gathering all the necessary information required to include in the FAIR package.Deliver the First Article Inspection package to manufacturing to record and verify what’s called out on the engineering drawing. Compile the actuals and populate them using ballooning software to compile the AS9102C (Forms 1,2, and 3) and create the First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).Import the First Article Inspection Package to Net InspectNotify manufacturing and quality of the recorded non-conformances, ensuring that the necessary actions have been taken to prevent recurrence.Compile FAI metrics to present to the leadership team the status and open actions to drive closure.May require inspection of parts during manufacturing using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, verniers, Go-No Go gauges, radius gauges, comparators, etc., and techniques based on tolerance or work instructions that reference a specific inspection tool.

    What You will Do:

    Primary: Review Quality requirements of aero-engine components.  Plan and prepare build of a regulatory based and compliant “First Article Inspection Report (FAIR)” supplier package for OEM acceptance.  Work as per the requirements of AS9102-Rev C and associated customer procedures.Primary: “Balloon” engineer drawings (DISCUS software) to capture required quality inspection points.  Determine/verify proper gaging equipment to use it to perform inspections – a part of the FAIR package.  Inspection will include both dimensional and visual reviews using both manual and advanced gages / equipment.  Inspection tools must be verified for calibration and proper functionality before used.  Create or gather and verify all other quality supporting documents (test records, Material CoC, et al) – reviewing and assuring both accuracy and completeness of each.  Flag and resolve any discrepancies in any data/records.  Take all data and create the “FAIR package” using Net-Inspect software.  Sign-off the FAIR as the Quality Engineering who created it and submit for OEM counter-approval – which is pre-requisite to allow release of hardware to OEM for use in engine builds.  Store quality records and documents for potential audit. Monitor any changes to process that would require a “Delta-FAIR” to be processed.  FAIR’s cover both military and commercial aero-engine builds.  The work is performed on-site at a supplier in Connecticut in a modern Distribution Center environment. Secondary: Spot, segregate, and document Non-Conforming Material when encountered.
