    Job Summary:

    As an integral part of the Quality Care ER team, the Registered Nurse, delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established protocol and / or as ordered by the emergency room physician. Works in cooperative effort with physician and other members of clinical staff to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Effectively interact with patients and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Provides care for patients presenting with various types of illnesses and/or injuries requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions.


    CLINICAL:

    Provides direct (bedside) and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.Collects information regarding chief complaint and / or current symptoms, as well as a detailed patient history, and documents findings in the patient medical record. Reports findings to the healthcare provider.Performs triage and nursing assessments, while considering both physical and psychosocial elementsConsults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Oversees the clinical activities of other clinical staff as needed.Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocol. Reports critical test findings to the attending physician.Works directly under physicians, assisting them during exams, procedures, diagnostic testing and treatments.Prepares and administers medications as ordered by the physician, (oral, subcutaneous, intravenous / infusion, intramuscular) and records administration and such other relative data in the medical record. Performs a reassessment and records patient reaction. Reports and documents adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.Provides IV infusion / therapy, performs 12-lead EKG, venipuncture and IV initiation, blood draws, cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring, applies oxygen using the appropriate delivery system, administers nebulized treatments and other treatments and nursing tasks as ordered by the physician.Assists physician with management of critical patients.Provides direct supervision of other clinical staff who perform tasks under nursing delegation.Assists physician with procedures including but not limited to laceration repair (any complexity), any procedure requiring procedural sedation and / or the administration of anesthesia, Incision and Drainage (I &D), cardiac arrest, intubation, chest tube insertion, foreign body removal (any part of the body), live birth or spontaneous aborted fetus and tissue and documents all nursing activities accordingly.Processes and completes patient death packet including documentation of time of death and assists Administration in reporting death in the emergency room as needed.Documents all necessary information for reporting a live birth to the Bureau of Vital Statistics as required by law.Keeps records of procedures on applicable flow sheets for moderate sedation, CPR/Code Blue and restraints.Initiates patient transfers contacting the receiving facility to provide report and secure a bed assignment. Properly completes the memorandum of transfer and that all required parts of the medical record are provided to the receiving facility.Maintains and makes appropriate and correct entries into applicable clinical logs and records as required by facility policy and procedure.Reviews discharge instructions with the patient and, as needed, provides patient education and training including wound care, crutch training, review of prescribed medications, use of nebulizers or inhalers, and other types of training.Reviews all discharge instructions with patient and take vital signs prior to discharge to ensure patient is stable and records results in the patient medical recordAssists administration in maintaining proper / par-level supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients.

    Laboratory:

    Performs duties as assigned for venous blood draws for blood and body fluid samples. Uses drawn samples to perform and complete such laboratory point of care testing and send out labs as ordered by the on-duty physician.May post completed lab results to the chart.Fulfills requirement of annual laboratory proficiency testing.Reports any diversion from normal lab operations or incidents to the Nurse Administrator, i.e., exposures, incidents, spills, injuries, etc.Assists in the reporting of infectious and reportable diseases as required by the CDC and State.Requirements:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing; Certificates in Basic Life support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Cardiovascular Life Support (PALS) OR Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required.Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Texas or have Compact licensure and in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing.Minimum 1-year RN emergency room experience, necessary to meet established quality standards.Knowledge of accepted infection control measures.Experience in documenting patient findings in an electronic health record and assist in other ER duties as needed.

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    The facility operates 24/7 with regular consistent work schedules of 36 hours or more per week for full-time; schedules will vary to include evenings, nights and weekends. Must possess the ability to work all shifts including day, evening, weekends, and holiday hours.? Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time. PRN employees are expected to work at least two shifts per month to maintain PRN status.

    Job Summary: Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (X- rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist and ordered by the physician. Performs Computer Automated Tomography (CT) scans of the human body in accordance with established protocol as requested by physician. Operates mobile X-ray equipment at patient's bedside. Performs blood draws, obtains other specimens, and performs laboratory diagnostic testing in accordance with physician orders and laboratory policy. Assists with clinical duties and tasks.


    Responsibilities:


    Upon receipt of order from qualified healthcare provider, performs diagnostic testing using Computer Tomography (CT) and X-ray equipment in accordance with protocol.Through proper use of the radiology equipment produces a quality image and upload such image for Radiology reads / interpretations.Receives radiology reads / results and posts to chart following report to the healthcare provider. Reports critical results to the attending physician.Reports abnormal lab results to the attending physician and charge RN as soon as possible and without delay.May assist in performing daily/monthly QC’s to ensure proper performance and compliance in the laboratory.Reports any diversion from normal lab operations or incidents to the Clinical Director, i.e., exposures, incidents, spills, injuries, etc.Assists with the cleaning of the facility and radiology department to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.May assist clinical staff in reviews all discharge instructions with patient, take vital signs prior to discharge to ensure patient is stable and report or record results.Requirements:

    Job Requirements:

    High School Graduate or GED equivalent, must be able to produce a copy of diploma or official transcript.Graduation / Diploma/ Certification from accredited school of Radiology Technology.Current license from the Texas Medical Board for Radiology Technologist.Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Current Healthcare Provider (BLS) / CPR certification.
