Job DescriptionJob Description
SUMMARY The Reliability Engineer is a high-impact technical role within the Shared Services engineering team, responsible for ensuring that advanced electronic, RF, and electro-mechanical test systems survive harsh operating environments. Serving as the critical bridge between design concepts and mission-critical deployment, this position leads to environmental qualification testing, executes rigorous mathematical and stress modeling, and collaborates directly with design teams to maximize hardware durability. The ideal candidate ensures all systems achieve peak operational readiness across airborne, land vehicle, and flight-line defense applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design Validation & Environmental Qualification
Ensure electronic, RF, and electro-mechanical assemblies are optimized for harsh military environments.Lead functional, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), and environmental stress testing.Draft comprehensive Qualification Test Plans (QTP) and write final Qualification Test Reports (QTR).Manage troubleshooting, failure documentation, and testing throughout the qualification lifecycle.
Reliability Analysis & Reporting
Perform advanced component-level reliability
predictions and math
calculations for “Mean Time Between Failures” (
MTBF) and “Mean Time to Repair” (
MTTR) and run software-assisted reliability predictions.Conduct detailed stress, thermal, and circuit
analysis to identify potential hardware weaknesses.Develop and maintain Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for complex and high-frequency systems.Establish and manage the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and
Corrective Action System (FRACAS) to resolve defects.Monitor field and customer failure data to identify trends and execute engineering improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Actively participate in design review meetings to present reliability findings and structural recommendations.Support the Lead Reliability Engineer and execute tasks assigned by the Shared Services Director.Advise hardware, mechanical, and
RF engineering teams on stress, thermal, and vibration mitigation.
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:
Degree: Bachelor Science in Electrical Engineering
(BSEE), Mechanical Engineering
(BSME)Experience: Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in all core aspects of
Reliability Engineering.Must have a proven track record in executing
FMEA and managing
FRACAS workflows.Demonstrated experience calculating
MTBF and
MTTR specifically for
test systems or equipment.Military Standards & Applications5+ years of deep technical familiarity and experience working with
MIL-STD-810 (Environmental) and
MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC).5+ years of hands-on experience evaluating mechanical, electromechanical, and electronics assemblies for military applications.Engineering Concepts with understanding of mechanical design principles, vibration effects on electronics, and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS).Strong background in Environmental Stress Screening (
ESS) implementation
.Solid foundational knowledge in stress analysis and thermal analysis methodologies.
