    Position Summary  

    As a Dental Assistant, you will help support the clinical needs of our patients and doctors. The duties of a dental Assistant are very important for the functionality of our dental offices. These duties can include patient care, recordkeeping, and appointment scheduling. As a Dental Assistant, you will work under the supervision of dentists and work closely with dental hygienists in their day-to-day activities. 

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    The duties include, but are not limited to:  

    Clearly demonstrate knowledge of dental instruments and assist the dentist in rendering patient care chairside. Maintain inventory control in the operatories where treatment is rendered by the Provider. Adhering to OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC guidelines. Deliver world class patient interactions related to scheduling, follow up treatment, post-surgical information and record keeping. Be able to perform basic lab procedures such as take impressions, pour models, and prepare cases for external labs. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications 

    High School diploma or GED required. Easily able to learn technologies and systems required and demonstrates a desire to learn Applicable licensing required for the state in which you will work: For NJ- Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license or willing to pursue licensure immediately required. For MD- Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license or willing to pursue licensure immediately required. For PA- Radiation Health and Safety certificate or willing to pursue licensure immediately required. Certified Dental Assistant preferred. 1+ years work experience as a Dental Assistant preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. X-ray License required. Active CPR Certification is required.

    Knowledge and Skills/Expected Competencies 

    Knowledge of dental instruments and patient care. Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or the general public. Excellent organization, prioritization, follow up, analytical and time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

    Position Summary

    An Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) is a highly trained and skilled dental professional who assists dentists in providing advanced chairside support and performing additional clinical duties to enhance the efficiency and quality of dental care delivery. EFDA's have received specialized education and certification to perform expanded functions beyond the scope of traditional dental assisting, under the supervision of a licensed dentist.  

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    The duties include, but are not limited to:  

    Patient Care and Chairside Assistance: Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for dental procedures, ensuring a clean, organized, and sterile environment. Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including operative, restorative, endodontic, periodontic, and oral surgery procedures, by providing chairside support and anticipating the dentist’s needs. Comfort and reassure patients before, during and after dental treatment, addressing their questions, concerns, and apprehensions to promote a positive dental experience. Expanded Function Procedures: Perform expanded functions authorized by state regulations and within the scope of EFDA training and certification, such as placing and contouring dental restorations (e.g., amalgam, composite fillings), placing and removing temporary crowns, and taking preliminary impressions. Assist with the placement and removal of periodontal dressings, dental dams, and other dental appliances as directed by the dentist. Administer local anesthesia, fluoride treatments, and other topical agents as allowed by state laws and dentist supervision. Radiography and Imaging: Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist, following prescribed techniques and safety protocols to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes. Process and mount dental X-rays, maintain radiographic records, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for radiation safety and protection. Instrument Sterilization and Infection Control: Perform sterilization and disinfection procedures for dental instruments, equipment, and operatory surfaces according to established infection control protocols and regulatory standards. Monitor sterilization equipment, maintain sterilization logs, and perform biological and chemical monitoring to ensure the effectiveness of sterilization processes. Patient Education and Oral Health Promotion: Provide oral hygiene instructions, dietary counseling, and preventative care recommendations to patients to promote optimal oral health and prevent dental diseases. Demonstrate proper tooth brushing, flossing, and other oral hygiene techniques, using educational materials and visual aids to reinforce patient understanding and compliance. Administrative Support and Recordkeeping: Assist with patient scheduling, appointment reminders, and billing procedures as needed, using dental practice management software to maintain accurate patient records and financial transactions. Complete clinical charting, treatment documentation, and procedural notes accurately and promptly, in compliance with legal and professional standards. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications 

    Completion of an accredited dental assisting program and attainment of state licensure or certification as a dental assistant Additional training and certification as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFSA) through an accredited program or continuing education courses. Knowledge of dental assisting techniques and infection control practices. Proficiency in dental radiography techniques and certification in dental radiography as required by state regulations. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other members of the dental team. Attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.Adherence to ethical standards, state regulations, and guidelines established by the American Dental Association (ADA) and other relevant professional organizations.

    An Endodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and injuries affecting the dental pulp and tissues surrounding the roots of the teeth. They specialize in performing root canal therapy and other endodontic procedures to save natural teeth and alleviate pain caused by dental infections or trauma.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The duties include, but are not limited to:
     Diagnosis and Treatment Planning:Conduct comprehensive examinations and diagnostic tests to identify dental pulp and periapical diseases, including pulpitis, apical periodontitis, and dental abscesses.Interpret radiographic images, such as X-rays and CBCT scans, to assess the extent of dental pathology and plan appropriate treatment interventions.Develop individualized treatment plans based on the diagnosis, considering factors such as the severity of the infection, the patient’s oral health status, and treatment preferences.Root Canal Therapy:Perform root canal procedures to remove infected or inflamed dental pulp from the pulp chamber and root canals of affected teeth.Clean and shape the root canal system using specialized instruments and irrigation solutions to eliminate bacteria and debrisFill and seal the root canal space with biocompatible materials, such as gutta-percha and sealer, to prevent recontamination and promote healing of periapical tissuesEndodontic Surgery:Provide surgical endodontic treatments, including apicoectomy (root-end resection) and root-end filling, to address persistent or recurrent periapical lesionsPerform surgical interventions to repair root fractures, remove foreign objects from root canals, and treat other complex endodontic conditionsTraumatic Dental Injuries:Manage traumatic dental injuries, such as avulsions, luxations, and fractures, by assessing the extent of damage to the dental pulp and supporting structuresPerform vital pulp therapy, apexogenesis, or apexification procedures to preserve pulp vitality and promote continued root development in immature teeth following traumatic injuriesPain Management and Emergency:Provide prompt and effective pain relief for patients experiencing dental emergencies related to pulpits, periapical abscesses, or traumatic dental injuriesAdminister local anesthesia and analgesics as needed to ensure patient comfort during endodontic procedures and post-operative recoveryPatient Education and Counseling:Educate patients about the importance of maintaining optimal oral hygiene practices and attending regular dental check-ups to prevent dental infections and preserve oral healthDiscuss treatment options, risks, and benefits with patients and address any concerns or questions they may have regarding endodontic proceduresCollaboration and Referrals:Collaborate with general dentists, prosthodontists, and other dental specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients requiring multidisciplinary careRefer patients to specialists in related fields, such as oral surgeons or periodontists, for advanced treatments or procedures outside the scope of endodonticsPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    As a Dental Assistant, you will help support the clinical needs of our patients and doctors. The duties of a dental Assistant are very important for the functionality of our dental offices. These duties can include patient care, recordkeeping, and appointment scheduling. As a Dental Assistant, you will work under the supervision of dentists and work closely with dental hygienists in their day-to-day activities. 

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    The duties include, but are not limited to:  

    Clearly demonstrate knowledge of dental instruments and assist the dentist in rendering patient care chairside. Maintain inventory control in the operatories where treatment is rendered by the Provider. Adhering to OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC guidelines. Deliver world class patient interactions related to scheduling, follow up treatment, post-surgical information and record keeping. Be able to perform basic lab procedures such as take impressions, pour models, and prepare cases for external labs. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications 

    High School diploma or GED required. Easily able to learn technologies and systems required and demonstrates a desire to learn Applicable licensing required for the state in which you will work: For NJ- Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license or willing to pursue licensure immediately required. For MD- Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license or willing to pursue licensure immediately required. For PA- Radiation Health and Safety certificate or willing to pursue licensure immediately required. Certified Dental Assistant preferred. 1+ years work experience as a Dental Assistant preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. X-ray License required. Active CPR Certification is required.

    Knowledge and Skills/Expected Competencies 

    Knowledge of dental instruments and patient care. Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or the general public. Excellent organization, prioritization, follow up, analytical and time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
