Propulsion Controls Engineering has a current opening at our San Diego, California location for an experienced Marine Electrician Lead, with a m inimum of 8-10 plus years experience in the ship repair industry / military. PCE is a full service electro-mechanical repair and diesel repair contractor. PCE has garnered a wealth of extensive experience in successfully executing major system overhauls across numerous ports throughout the world on virtually every class of ship currently in operation. Positon Summary: Perform and may lead crew engaged in electrical work in and around ship repair industry. Troubleshoot, repair, improve and build electrical components of ships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities / Marine Electrician Lead: Assists supervisor and/or manager in performing and leading a crew engaged in electrical work in and around ships.Perform and lead crew in inspecting, correcting, repairing and overhauling electrical equipment on marine equipment.Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical equipment, determine replacement needs or new material required, develop logical approach to correct the problem and install updated equipment.Figure layout installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.Receive and examine wiring diagrams, drawings and instructions covering emergency and scheduled repairs, calibrate, service and replace electronic devices and systems.Lay-out, pull, lift and install cables and conduit as needed.Test electrical equipment and low and high-voltage circuit systems for safety and in accordance with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items.Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning electrical equipmentMay attend production, planning and/or progress meetings as needed.Ensure safety practices and procedures are adhered to.Supports and may provide employee on the job training and technical support.Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.Education and Experience:High School diploma or GED certificate or equivalent education and experience.8-10 plus years' experience (military/marine or ship repair industry preferred).Marine Electrician Lead; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to operate and maintain various hand and electrical tools.Ability and tolerance to meet due dates and deadlines and/or time constraints.Ability to perform basic math and calculation functions.Ability to read and comprehend work specifications, technical manuals and standards.Knowledge of electrical systems in ships.Ability to obtain / maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance. Manages welders and fitters to accomplish the scope of work provided, meet schedule deadlines, and comply with safety requirements. Inspects welder fit up prior to welding, documents fit up on the inspection log, coordinates NDT inspections with QA, accomplish 009-06 inspections, submits Inspection deficiency reports and conditions found reports.
