    A day in the life

    You arrive, review the unit layout, and map your piping run. Tape measure out, you mark precise cuts on copper and steel tubing. The saw hums, the tube bender arcs a clean radius, and the torch brings the joint to a perfect braze—copper to copper—clean, bright, and strong. By mid-morning, suction and discharge lines are in, flares formed, and connections dressed. In the afternoon, you pressurize, leak-check, and document results, collaborating with teammates to keep the line moving and quality uncompromised.

    Core responsibilities Measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install copper and steel tubing for refrigeration units.Braze copper-to-copper joints using a torch with sound brazing fundamentals.Operate shop equipment, including a copper saw and tube bender.Create flares; route and assemble suction and discharge piping.Pressurize completed assemblies and perform leak checks to specification.Work with common trade tools: tube cutters, hand vise, power benders, files, flaring/swedging tools, and torch.Contribute to layout and setup of units; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED; or 3–6 months of relevant experience/training; or a comparable blend of education and experience.Comfort reading safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Math skills across whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.Problem-solving ability in settings with limited standardization; able to follow written, verbal, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.

    Responsibilities

    Perform machining tasks safely and efficiently in an industrial shop environment. Processes include turning, milling, drilling, reaming, boring, slotting, grinding, and tapping.

    Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal mills and lathes.

    Load and run CNC programs while ensuring accuracy and machine efficiency.

    Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and inspection results.

    Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.

    Follow all safety procedures and use proper PPE.

    Safely rig, move, and flip heavy parts using overhead cranes.

    Monitor and maintain shop tooling.

    Read and interpret blueprints at an advanced level.

    Inspect and report dimensional features using scales, calipers, micrometers, profilometers, indicators, and other inspection equipment.

    Qualifications

    Positive attitude, reliable attendance, and ability to contribute to a safety‑focused, efficient work culture.

    Knowledge of rigging and safe use of overhead cranes.

    Minimum 10 years of combined CNC and manual machining experience.

    Advanced understanding of blueprints, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.

    Advanced understanding of metrology and inspection tools.

    Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.

    Ability to stand for extended periods.
