With three inspected vessels ranging in size from 40-50' with a capacity of up to 49 passengers and 2 crew.  We host 10's of thousands of locals and tourists in downtown Nashville. Pontoon Saloon, Nashville’s premier passenger vessel operation, is seeking skilled and enthusiastic team members!

    Captain Job Description:Do you have a passion for navigating waterways and ensuring exceptional guest experience to lead our cruises on the Cumberland River. This role is ideal for experienced mariners who thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

    Role Overview:As a Captain, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our passenger vessel while delivering memorable experiences for our guests. Your leadership will set the tone for each cruise, focus on safety, hospitality, and fun.
    Key Responsibilities:Vessel Operation: Safely navigate the vessel along designated routes on the Cumberland River, adhering to all maritime regulations and company policies.Safety Leadership: Conduct pre-cruise safety checks, enforce safety procedures, and ensure all passengers and crew comply with USCG regulations.Guest Engagement: Welcome passengers aboard, deliver safety briefings, and interact with guests to create a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.Team Coordination: Work closely with deckhands and other crew members to ensure seamless cruise operations, including docking, disembarking, and vessel turnover.Maintenance Oversight: Monitor vessel equipment and report any issues to the management team to ensure optimal performance and safety.Crisis Management: Handle any emergencies or unexpected situations with professionalism and calm authority.Supervisor: Supervise dock and deckhand staff, hold them accountable, and set a high bar for yourself and others.

    Qualifications:Valid USCG Inland Waters Captain’s License (25GT or greater).Experience operating passenger vessels preferred.Strong leadership and communication skills.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.Availability for rotating day, evening, and weekend shifts, including holiday weekends.Positive attitude and ability to problem-solve on the fly.If hired, you must obtain an AED/CPR certification.Pass a background check and a pre-employment drug test (per USCG regulations).Marine Operations - understanding of maritime laws.

    Employment Type: Seasonal Part Time
    Ideal Start Date: *ASAP*
    End Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026 (with possible extension through the end of the year)2 Positions Available

    Job Details:Compensation: $18-$20/hourSchedule: 16+ hours per week. Weekend Availability Required. Working hours will vary but will be between 8:30 am and 7:30 pm.The schedule is generally published 1 month in advance.
    Location: In person at the Downtown Nashville Riverfront location. Free parking.
    Note: Some work from home is possible with proper technology.
    Must be currently living in the greater Nashville Area.
    Core Responsibilities:Guest Experience & Hospitality:Assist guests with reservations, providing detailed information on options, pricing, and add-on services.Ensure smooth communication throughout the booking process, creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere.Scheduling & Coordination:Manage the cruise schedule, ensuring full coverage alongside other team members.Collaborate with the team to maintain seamless operations and customer satisfaction.Team Collaboration:Work closely with other staff members to support daily operations.Contribute to the overall success and growth of Pontoon Saloon and Nashville Water Taxi.
    A Day in the Life:The majority of your shift will involve guest interaction and communication. Answering guest phone calls and emails - assisting with questions and bookings.Reviewing the cruise schedule for the day, ensuring all guests have completed waivers and are aware of parking conditions. Communicating and collaborating with the Marine and Operations Teams.Additional projects based on skills, interests, and company needs.
    Skills:Thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment.Have a clear, professional, and informative communication style.Experience in tourism, hospitality, or the music industry is preferred but not required.Critical thinker & problem solver.Self-starter, ability to plan, work on tasks, and meet deadlines.Typing and Google Suite Experience

    The Pontoon Saloon® offers Nashville’s #1 river cruise experience — a floating party boat on the Cumberland River perfect for bachelorette parties, birthdays, and private events. It’s the best honky tonk booze cruise on the water! We launched our first tours in the spring of 2017, welcoming thousands of people for the first time to the Cumberland River from the Nashville Riverfront. We expanded in 2021 with the addition of our purpose-built marina just 2 miles from Riverfront giving us easy access to millions of visitors to Nashville and also our own marina to operate tours year-round.
