Medical Receptionist
· Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and takes detailed messages as needed
· Verifies and/or updates demographic and insurance information for each patient, collecting copay-as needed
· Uses practice management software, patient portal and appointments reminder systems, to manage scheduling, interact with patients and providers, and updates files and patient records
· Collects, sorts and distributes incoming fax messages
· Minimizes patient stress by anticipating their anxieties, answering questions, problem solving and maintaining a calm and orderly environment in the reception area
· Protect patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical personal, and financial information
· Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes

· Prepares patients for their visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room, verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, taking vital signs, confirming purpose of visit
· Supports patient care by performing EKG’s as well as performing and preparing laboratory tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, administering medications, authorizing medication refills as directed, telephoning or submitting medications to the pharmacy, obtaining any required prior authorizations form insurance company. Maintains point-of-care instruments.
· Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock and requesting supply orders
· Maintains safe, secure, organized and calming work environment
· Maintains communication with patients regarding abnormal test results or recommendations from the physician.
