    Piedmont Rockdale is a 161-bed, acute care, not-for-profit community hospital in Conyers that has provided compassionate, patient-centered care to Rockdale County and surrounding communities since 1954. We offer 24-hour emergency care, plus most major medical, surgical and diagnostic services.

    Responsibilities:

    Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner. In addition, oversees the technical activities of the section or department in the absence of the lead or supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    Education

    H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency. Required Bachelors Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred Work Experience3 years in a clinical laboratory setting Required Licenses and Certifications Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.     Responsibilities:

    Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinical and operational stakeholders involved in the management of hospital laboratory services. Directs, monitors and manages all day-to-day administrative aspects of the department, including financial, operational and human resource issues. Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, and outreach clinics). Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality are followed and maintained.
