Assist with various administrative activities of the Nurse-Midwifery Program such as:Communicating with Physicians East, P.A. Facility and hospital staff and physicians.Reviewing lab data and keeping records and statistics as needed for research projects.Telephone follow-up with patients.Updating annual Certified Nurse-Midwife statistics and protocols.Participating in various committees and meetings as needed.3. Provide both clinical and classroom health care teaching and counseling as needed to patients, families, students, and community programs. Act as preceptor for students to include mid-level extenders, nursing, and medical students.4. Contribute information to research projects pertaining to Nurse-Midwife patients; assist with investigation of patient care problems; participate in individual and group projects and publication when appropriate; conduct own research projects.Attend Physicians East, P.A. clinical meetings for Mid-Level Extenders.Licensure/Certification must be current and renewed annually.CPR certification. ACLS classes and certifications suggested.Attend annual Compliance.Minimum Qualifications of EmploymentCompletion of a nurse midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwifery (ACNM)Possess evidence of certification according to the requirements of the American College of Nurse Midwives Certification Committee.Must have and maintain a current license to practice nursing in the state of North Carolina.Current in the practice of nurse midwifery according to the standards of nurse midwifery as set forth by the ACNM.Be credentialed to practice as a CNM at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support, CPR, and Neonatal Resuscitation.Participate in Continuing Competency Assessment (CCA) as established by the ACNM.The ideal candidate will also:Be confident in clinical decision-making and autonomous in providing care to patients in a fast-paced clinical practice setting.Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proactive in discussing case management.Possess excellent time management and have ability to work well with patients and their families, collaborating/supervising physicians, facility staff and leadership.Display a professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families, maintaining strict confidentiality in all times.Demonstrate a strong sense of team commitment, which includes meeting deadlines, punctuality and excellent follow-through and feedback.Purpose of the Nurse Midwifery ServiceTo develop and support the profession of nurse midwifery to promote the health and well-being ofWomen and infants within their families and communities.Provide care for essentially normal women and their infants throughout the reproductive cycle by working.Collaboratively within the health care team.The Nurse Midwifery Service will assist in the education for families by teaching childbirth preparation.Classes, infant care, and breastfeeding classes.     About the Role: The Certified Medical Assistant works interdependently with other medical professionals to provide quality health care to a high volume of patients. Medical Assistants provide direct patient care for and treat patients in the office, as directed by Physician, Advanced Practice Provider, Registered Nurse, or Supervising Manager.

    Responsibilities:

    Provider’s assistant in the daily clinic assisting providers during office visits and in-office procedures as needed.

    Candidate requirementsGraduate of an accredited associate degree Medical Assistant program and current certification through AAMA, NHA, RMA or similar organization is required. Prior healthcare giver experience requiredExperience in electronic medical records (EMR/HER) software required.Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.Ability to actively listen.Ability to observe and to draft a narrative account of events accurately and cogently, in grammatically correct English.Ability to spell, proofread and edit written text.
