Must be able to set up and operate CNC Lathe equipment located in the CNC Lathe Department. Read LessPosition Overview - The Laboratory Technician works primarily under the general direction of the Laboratory Supervisor but may also interact with Product Engineers, Engineering Management and / or other functional areas as required. The primary duties of this role are to provide support to the new product development group in the areas of product testing, validation and troubleshooting. Therefore, a robust technical knowledge of electromechanical devices is required. The Laboratory Technician primarily works in a controlled environment lab space but some duties may be conducted in manufacturing cells.
Essential Job Functions:
Ability to understand engineering and manufacturing documentation including BOM’s, prints, schematics and routings. Familiarity with basic pneumatic and hydraulic plumbing as well as basic AC and DC circuits.Design, create and document test setups graphically and pictorially involving hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical controls. Ability to use power supplies, relays, valves, test meters, pressure gauges, oscilloscopes and other test equipment. Knowledge of electrical circuits and fluidic systems plumbing. Awareness of safety procedures for working with high pressure gases and liquids.Operate environmental test equipment that simulate customer and agency conditions to determine measurements such as minimum operating voltage, current, flow, pull-in-time, drop-out-time, operating pressure, burst pressure, cycle life, etc.Evaluate, collect and record electrical and mechanical data in a coherent format utilizing PC’s and logbooks. Key Responsibilities
Design electro-mechanical solenoid valves that utilize machined, stamped and molded components.Guide a cross functional product team throughout our NPD tollgate process.Provide technical product support to internal and external customers.Design products that will be subjected to a wide range of pressures and temperatures.Design prototypes and conduct validation testing in a laboratory environment.Manage multiple projects simultaneously.Compile cost estimates for new product quoting.Conduct and/or participate in new product design reviews with cross functional input.Generate and/or update bills of material.Configure valves to work with AC and DC inputs.Develop DFMEA’s, and create detailed CAD drawings.Support company QMS and ISO-9000 requirements.Participate in company Kaizen events.Requirements
BSME / BSEE or equivalent3+ years related job experience in design and development of new products. (Electro-Mechanical Preferred)Strong design skills a must. Experience with solid modeling and drawing creation. Essential Job Functions
Must be able to set up and operate CNC Lathe equipment located in the CNC Lathe Department. This includes Nakamura equipment.Must be able to work independently using prints, work instructions and be able to use and understand all measuring and gauging tools.Must be able to change and/or set all required tooling.Perform 1st piece and in-process inspections.Responsible for quality of all products leaving the CNC Lathe Department on machines assigned.Train and monitor operators within the department.Perform all 5S as required within the CNC Lathe Department.Perform line walks for Lathe area as directed by immediate supervisor.Perform any other duties as directed by immediate supervisor.Follow all company safety rules and report any unsafe acts to immediate supervisor.Must have full understanding of all company processes, procedures and rules as stated in the PeterPaul Employee Handbook.Additional Job Functions
