ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design and develop medium- and low-temperature refrigeration systems and HVACR equipment (split systems, packaged units, heat pumps, fan coils, etc.).Create and update 2D/3D CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD).Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and structural design principles to meet performance targets.Conduct tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and DFM reviews to ensure manufacturability and quality.Manage lab testing for product validation, agency approvals, and regulatory compliance (DOE, AHRI, ASHRAE, UL, CSA).Oversee prototype builds, analyze test results, and implement corrective actions.Support field trials, troubleshooting, and product/application issues.Coordinate cross-functional project teams and maintain development schedules.Lead cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects.Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality and drive innovation.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.3–10+ years of HVACR product design, research, or new product development experience.Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.Strong knowledge of HVACR systems, refrigeration cycles, and heat exchanger design.Familiarity with DOE, AHRI, ASHRAE, UL/CSA standards and compliance processes.Excellent project management, communication, and teamwork skills.Ability to travel occasionally for supplier visits, testing, or field trials.PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with sheet metal design, plastics, tubing/wiring layouts, and complex assemblies.Knowledge of simulation tools (CFD, FEA, thermal modeling).
