    Job Summary:

    The Recovery Assistant provides person-centered, home and community-based support services to individuals with psychiatric or physical disabilities. These services focus on promoting independence, healthy daily living, and active participation in the community. The role includes assistance, cueing, and direct support aligned with the participants Recovery Plan.



    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    Direct Support Services (minimum 15-minute service units):

    Provide or assist with household tasks such as:Meal planning and preparationShopping and errandsHousekeeping (e.g., changing linens, washing dishes, vacuuming, laundry)Basic home maintenance (e.g., temperature regulation, bill-paying assistance)Support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):Dressing, personal hygiene, grooming, and bathingEncouraging or assisting appropriate use of emergency medical services

    Cueing and Engagement Support:

    Encourage or assist participants with:Social, family, and recreational activitiesAccessing natural community supports (e.g., social clubs, faith-based groups)Routine healthcare visits and medication adherenceHealthy lifestyle habits, including diet, exercise, and stress reductionFulfilling appointments and commitments (e.g., clinical, vocational, legal)

    Risk Prevention Support:

    Assist in avoiding:Risky behaviors (e.g., unsafe sex, substance use, criminal activities)Overspending or financial mismanagementConflict or behaviors leading to crisis

    Companionship and Social Interaction:

    Develop and maintain a supportive relationship through:Escorting participants to appointments or errandsReading with or for the participantDiscussing or engaging in hobbies, recreation, or sportsEncouraging reintegration into community, family, and social roles

    Plan Coordination and Meetings:

    Participate in the development and review of Recovery Plans, including quarterly updates, when requested by the DMHAS Support CoordinatorTravel with participants as needed when also delivering qualifying waiver services



    Qualifications:
