    Job Summary

    Peoples Bank, a community bank based in Cuba, Missouri, is seeking a knowledgeable and relationship-focused Loan Officer to develop and manage lending relationships while providing exceptional financial guidance to customers. This position is responsible for originating, underwriting, approving within lending authority, and closing consumer and commercial loans in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.

    The Loan Officer serves as a trusted financial advisor by identifying customer borrowing needs, recommending appropriate lending solutions, and strengthening customer relationships through referrals to other bank products and services. This position also plays an active role in business development and community involvement to support the bank's continued growth and commitment to the communities it serves.


    Key Responsibilities

    Lending

    Develop new loan opportunities while maintaining and expanding relationships with existing customers. Interview applicants, analyze financial information, and complete loan applications. Underwrite and approve loans within assigned lending authority and bank policy. Prepare and coordinate all aspects of the loan origination process through closing. Ensure loan documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with bank policies and applicable regulations. Monitor loan portfolio performance, credit quality, and customer financial trends. Maintain responsibility for the quality and performance of assigned loan portfolio. Assist customers with loan servicing questions and ongoing credit needs. Maintain knowledge of lending regulations, products, and underwriting guidelines.

    Business Development

    Develop new lending relationships through networking, referrals, prospecting, and community involvement. Deepen relationships with existing customers by identifying additional borrowing opportunities. Refer customers to appropriate bank personnel for deposit accounts, treasury management, digital banking, and other financial products and services. Participate in sales initiatives that support branch and bank growth objectives. Represent Peoples Bank in a professional manner while cultivating business relationships throughout the community.

    Customer Service & Community Involvement

    Deliver exceptional customer service by providing knowledgeable, timely, and responsive financial guidance. Build long-term customer relationships based on trust and personalized service. Participate in community organizations, civic events, and business development activities that promote Peoples Bank. Support the bank's mission of serving customers and strengthening the local communities in which it operates.

    Other Responsibilities

    Assist other departments and branch personnel as needed to support overall bank operations. Maintain confidentiality of customer information. Complete required compliance, regulatory, and professional development training. Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.


    Requirements:

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred. One to three years of banking, lending, financial services, or related experience preferred. Knowledge of consumer and commercial lending principles and underwriting practices preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
