Penske Media Corporation (PMC) is currently seeking a Full Stack Engineer to join our engineering team and work on our WordPress and Laravel systems while applying artificial intelligence to modern web development. This role is ideal for an engineer early in their career who is excited to grow their skills across the stack, learn from more experienced teammates, and use AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, code quality, and understanding of complex systems. You will work with established patterns, existing architecture, and close guidance while gradually increasing your scope and independence over time. What You’ll Do: You will contribute to real production systems while being supported by senior engineers and established processes. Responsibilities include: Develop and maintain WordPress plugins and Laravel applications using existing patterns and best practices Build and enhance frontend features using TypeScript, React, and NextJS, focusing on responsiveness, performance, and accessibility Contribute to AI-powered features (such as editorial tools or automation) by implementing well-defined components and integrations Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand requirements and deliver scoped solutions Work with APIs connecting WordPress, Laravel, and external services, following existing designs Participate in CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and Jenkins, and learn how our deployment pipelines work Use Docker-based development environments and assist with deployments to AWS-hosted infrastructure Support infrastructure and observability efforts by following documented processes and contributing small improvements Write tests, documentation, and pull requests, and participate in code reviews as a learner and contributor Assist with troubleshooting and bug fixes affecting production websites, with guidance from teammates Participate in team on-call rotations after onboarding, with backup and support from senior engineers What We’re Looking For: We don’t expect you to have experience with everything listed below. Required / Core Skills: Experience with PHP and familiarity with WordPress or Laravel (professional, academic, or personal projects) Basic experience with JavaScript and modern frontend development (TypeScript or React experience is a plus) Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as coding assistants, AI-powered IDEs, or automated refactoring tools) as part of your regular development workflow, with an interest in learning how to apply them effectively in production environments Understanding of web fundamentals such as HTTP, TLS, REST APIs, and relational databases Awareness of accessibility and SEO best practices, with a desire to learn more Ability to take feedback well, ask questions, and communicate clearly with teammates Nice to Have (Not Required): Exposure to TypeScript, NextJS, or modern React patterns Experience using Docker or cloud platforms (AWS or similar) Familiarity with automated testing or CI/CD pipelines Familiarity with secure development practices (OWASP Top 10, XSS, CSRF, SQL injection, authorization concepts) How You’ll Grow in This Role: You’ll start by working on well-scoped tasks and bug fixes with clear guidance Over time, you’ll take ownership of small features and components You’ll learn how we use AI tools to improve development speed and quality As your skills grow, your level of independence and responsibility will increase in line with our engineering career ladder This role aligns with early-career engineering expectations and provides a clear path for progression within our Individual Contributor track. While this role works on the same systems as more senior engineers, expectations around autonomy, decision-making, and technical leadership are intentionally scoped to an early-career level.
