    Electronics Technician (Contract-to-Hire, Part-Time)

    Location: Earlysville, VA (Onsite)

    Pay: $25–$35/hour (based on experience)

    Schedule: ~30 hours/week (flexible daytime hours)

    The Opportunity

    This is a hands-on, part-time role supporting the repair, rebuild, and maintenance of precision optometry machinery. You’ll work directly with mechanical and electronic systems—troubleshooting issues, rebuilding components, and helping prepare machines for resale.

    There is strong potential for this role to grow into a larger opportunity for the right individual.

    Key Responsibilities

    Rebuild and service optometry machines for resale and customer useTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic control systems and enclosure controllersPerform component-level troubleshooting and repair on circuit boardsDiagnose and repair electrical systems within machineryWork with three-axis CNC tabletop machines used for precision cuttingRead and interpret schematics to identify and resolve issuesCollaborate directly with ownership on priorities, progress, and problem-solving

    Required Skills & Experience

    Hands-on experience with soldering (especially CPU/circuit boards)Strong troubleshooting skills at the circuit board and system levelAbility to read and work from electrical schematicsExperience working with or around CNC-controlled equipment (3-axis preferred)Solid mechanical aptitude and comfort working with physical equipmentAbility to diagnose and repair electronic control boxes and electrical systems

    Nice to Have

    Experience building or repairing wiring harnessesBackground working with precision machinery or similar equipment

    Job Description

    Overview
    The Principal Analyst applies advanced principles of physics—including classical mechanics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism—to support the design, development, and validation of aerospace systems. This role is responsible for leading structural design and analysis efforts from early concept through final engineering release, including detailed drawings and stress reports.

    This individual plays a key role in test planning, technical documentation, and solving complex engineering problems such as pyrotechnic and pneumatic gas dynamics, multi-body kinematics, and heat transfer.

    Key Responsibilities

    Apply physics-based analysis to evaluate and predict system performance, inform concept of operations, and define subsystem requirementsLead structural assessments of systems, components, and mechanisms using established aerospace analysis methods (hand calculations, finite element analysis, fatigue, and damage tolerance)Provide technical leadership at the program level to ensure designs meet all performance and compliance requirementsVerify and document system compliance with applicable standards and specificationsDevelop and deliver detailed engineering reports, analyses, and presentationsEstablish and maintain engineering standards, best practices, and training materialsMentor and support the development of junior engineers

    Qualifications
