Position Title: Prep Cook
Reports to: Café Supervisor, Café Manager, Shift Lead

SUMMARY:
We have an opportunity for a dedicated Pre Cook to join our cafe/restaurant team. The Prep Cook is a key part of the team and will assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in a fast-paced culinary environment.
Assists in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen. Prep Cook performs routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. Must be willing and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules/requirements in the kitchen. Individual should be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Follows the prep list created by manager to plan duties
Labels and stocks all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
Measures ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
Prepares cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
Undertakes basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
Prepares simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
Maintains a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
Washes dishes/dishware, clean, maintain back of house prep area
Ensures all food and other items are stored properly
Complies with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
Performs other kitchen duties as assigned and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience :
- Proven experience as a Prep Cook or relevant role
- Knowledge of food handling and food service techniques
- Experience in a cook or dietary department is a plus
- Proficient in meal preparation and food presentation
- Familiarity with menu planning and recipe execution
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Basic knife skills for cutting and chopping ingredients
