    Position Title:  Content Manager (Managing Editor) Reports to: Senior Director of Content Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or hybrid of these two options. Travel Requirement: 10%, domestic and international Position Type: Full Time Position Overview: The Content Manager, effectively serving as an internal Managing Editor, is a leader within the Content team of the Marketing & Communications department at Partners In Health (PIH) who drives engagement, educates audiences, and supports fundraising efforts. The Content Manager develops a Content plan across the department’s platforms that adheres to the overarching Content strategy and PIH’s mission, as overseen by the Senior Director of Content. The Content Manager must maintain consistency in messaging, style, and tone across all Content forms and exhibit strong, ethical, independent judgement on quality and direction of storytelling. The Content Manager must also work with colleagues across the global organization to be aware of the latest news and develop a strong rapport with a multilingual, diverse group of professionals. Key Responsibilities: Management and Planning (80%) Supervise a growing team of 3-4 writers, helping them prioritize work, plan stories, ensure deadlines are met, and that writing adheres to PIH’s style guide and professional standards. Own and drive the Content planning process through PIH’s project management platform, alongside other managers within the department’s Creative, Digital, and External Relations teams. Monitor and analyze Content performance metrics, as available, and adjust plans based on lessons learned. Represent the Content team during exploratory meetings with PIH staff interested in developing stories for external audiences that share PIH’s global impact. Develop standard operating procedures for Content creation and engage in conversations with Local Communications teams about how to best adapt them to their teams’ needs. Assist in the hiring, onboarding, and training of Local Communications colleagues, especially those joining in either a Content or Creative capacity. Foster a collaborative and creative environment that encourages innovation, exploration, and professional growth. Writing and Editing (20%) Manage the editing process and serve as first editor on the department’s priority projects, such as the Annual Report and key acquisition, engagement, and fundraising campaigns. Write Content and lead special projects that focus on cross-program or cross-site work, especially as they relate to PIH Strategic Plan initiatives. Travel to PIH sites as needed to gather Content and build relationships on behalf of the Marketing & Communications team. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years writing and/or editing experience, with strong storytelling judgment and editing skills across a variety of platforms. Experience in supervising writers and honing their skills, as well as working with experts in the medical, public health, or social justice fields. Proficiency in content management systems and other software technology Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries Preferences: Fluency in English required with a preference for additional language proficiency in Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole. Experience working with issues related to health, international development, and interest in social justice is strongly desirable. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $70,000 and $90,0000/year. The starting salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually. This is a remote job. Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 yearly
