    About The Team

    At ParetoHealth, the Analytics team sits at the intersection of healthcare data, business strategy, and decision-making. We work with rich medical, pharmacy, stoploss, and business datasets to generate insights that directly influence product strategy, client outcomes, underwriting, and internal operations. The team partners closely with a varied set of stakeholders to move from questions to action, promoting data-driven decision making across the organization. We do this within a team culture of collaboration, shared responsibility, mutual respect, and growth.

    Position Summary:

    This role is designed for a senior, analytically sophisticated individual contributor who feels most at home in the space between data science and traditional BI analytics.

    As a Lead Data Analyst, you will partner closely with Data Scientists and cross-functional stakeholders to tackle complex, ambiguous analytical problems. You will lead analyses end-to-end, framing questions, wrangling and validating data, designing sound analytical approaches, and translating results into clear, actionable insights.

    This role is not focused on building predictive models or machine learning systems for production, and it does not include people management responsibilities. Success in this role comes from analytic rigor, business judgment, and the ability to turn complex data into decisions. You will report to the VP of Analytics.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead End-to-End Analyses Partner with stakeholders to understand business priorities and translate them into analytical approachesDesign, test, and refine appropriate methodologies for complex analytical questionsWork directly with large, messy healthcare datasets, including medical and pharmacy claimsBuild and maintain robust SQL queries and analytical datasets

    Deliver Decision-Ready Insights Develop clear visualizations and summaries that communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiencesTranslate complex analyses into actionable recommendationsDocument methodologies, assumptions, and limitations to ensure transparency and repeatability

    Collaborate Within the Team Work closely with Data Scientists to support exploratory analyses, hypothesis generation, and interpretation of resultsPartner with Analytics teammates to align definitions, methodologies, and data quality standardsContribute through collaboration and shared problem-solving

    Drive Business Impact Proactively identify opportunities where analytics can improve business outcomesSupport teams across the organization, including underwriting, product, account management, and cost containment

    What We're Looking For:

    A problem-solver with a natural sense of curiosity, analytic rigor, and a deep interest in understanding complex healthcare dataA collaborator with proven ability to work cross-functionally across many different stakeholders to create and deliver insightsA strong communicator who effectively shares information at the appropriate level across a wide variety of audiencesA self-starter with a demonstrated track record of owning projects from idea to executionA critical thinker with demonstrated ability to be creative, strategic, and to apply strong business judgementA translator who can turn complex analysis into actionable insights and recommendations for the business

    Core Qualifications:

    8-10+ years' experience in a healthcare-based analytics role, preferably in the health benefits space/insurance industryDeep, hands-on experience working with administrative healthcare data (medical and pharmacy claims)Strong mathematical and statistical foundation, including comfort with quantitative reasoning, distributions, rates, and variability as applied to real-world healthcare dataExpert-level SQL skills, including building, optimizing, and validating complex analytical queriesAdvanced proficiency in data visualization tools such as TableauExtensive experience in data cleaning, validation, and exploratory analysis using large, complex datasetsStrong understanding of analytical methods, including descriptive statistics, cohort analysis, risk assessment, trend analysis, and causal thinkingStrong analytic judgment: knowing which method to use, why, and whenMaster's degree in a quantitative/analytic field (or equivalent work experience)

    Bonus Qualifications:

    Working knowledge of Python or R for analysis and data wrangling (advanced modeling not required)Experience working with data from CRM systems, e.g., SalesforceFamiliarity with underwriting and actuarial risk assessments for healthcare insurance coverageFamiliarity with AWS Serverless Services and data tools, such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Sagemaker and EMR

    Key Responsibilities:

    Product Strategy & Vision

    Define and own the risk product strategy for Pareto's captive and stop-loss portfolioAssess alternative risk structures and determine whether/how Pareto should evolve captive structures, contribution models, and risk corridors to optimize performance and member experienceIdentify market pain points and associated opportunities through broker feedback, claims analysis, regulatory insights, and assessment of the competitive landscapeDevelop and prioritize a roadmap to expand/manage a suite of protections for captive Members aligned with company growth objectives and risk appetite

    Market & Competitive Intelligence

    Understand industry trends, including cost drivers, network strategies, and alternative funding modelsEvaluate alternative product designs, pricing approaches, and underwriting methodologiesPartner with sales and marketing to capture voice-of-customer insights from brokers, consultants, and employer groupsUnderstand risk/ product management capabilities at carriers and TPAs in detail to identify gaps and opportunities

    Cross-Functional Leadership

    Drive alignment on product priorities and ensure effective execution of key initiatives across underwriting, product, and technologySupport go-to-market efforts in partnership with Product, Sales, and Marketing, including messaging and sales enablement

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    3-5 years of top-tier consulting experience3-5 years in Product Management or Strategy in insurance (e.g., carrier, broker, MGU)Strong nose for value with ability to translate market pain points into solutions; creative, innovative mindsetData-driven with strong analytical and financial acumenDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a complex, matrixed environment; superior communication skills

    Preferred:

    Deep understanding of risk-sharing structures and stop-loss mechanicsExperience with captive programs, alternative risk arrangements, or level-funded productsExperience working with mid-market employers (50–1,000 lives)Exposure to clinical programs, cost containment vendors, and population health strategiesMBA or advanced degree
