We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.
Your general accountabilities include preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care, scheduleing patient appointments, answers general questions, obtains authorizations and pre-authorizations for patient care services, interviewing patients to obtain their medical history, recording patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files, performing routine screening tests, such as height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks, helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments, general clinic space, and rooms as needed.
The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.
Responsibilities and General Accountabilities
Prepare for the patient visit, including pulling charts and notes, as well as setting up medical equipmentClean and sterilize instruments and equipment after useAnswer phones and field questions about medical issues, identifying visit needsAssist nurses and doctors with basic medical care and procedures by setting up the procedure and handing over instruments and materialsTrack lab results, call in prescriptions, and handle basic medical office dutiesPrepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.Cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations.Interviews patients to obtain their medical history.Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.Performs routine screening tests, such as height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks.Draws blood, removes sutures, changes dressings.Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment.Properly disposes of contaminated supplies.Greets visitors and obtains name and other pertinent information, notifying appropriate individuals of visitor's arrival.Answers and routes calls, as necessary, to appropriate individuals.Accurately takes and delivers messages.Maintains log of all calls requiring further action.Accepts and signs for packages, and notifies addressee of package arrival.Performs a variety of routine clerical tasks.Maintains clean and orderly reception area.Types medical reports from rough draft, copy or tape.Schedules patient appointments, answers general questions, obtains authorizations and pre-authorizations for patient care services.Schedules appointments with ancillary departments or other care providers as needed.Completes required paperwork or documentation.Inserts laboratory results into patient charts.Files charts according to established procedures.Reads and prioritizes incoming mail.Provides assistance in the day-to-day administration of department.Establishes and maintains files and records.Oversees equipment and office supply inventories and initiates or approves service requests and supply orders.

Medical assistants will perform a variety of tasks that involve physical demands, including walking, standing, and light physical effort. They may also need to lift, carry, bend, kneel, reach, and squat. Must be able to assist and transfer patients as needed.Vision: Medical assistants need to have good vision, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Motor skills: Medical assistants need to have gross and fine motor skills, and good hand/eye coordination. Mobility: Medical assistants need to be able to maneuver in small areas. Medical assistants may also need to help patients move into positions such as for physical examinations and procedures, and hand instruments and supplies to physicians.
