PACE is seeking a Design Engineer with a focused background in water resources (water and wastewater systems). This position will entail performing a wide variety of engineering analyses and design requiring excellent engineering ability, as well as verbal and written communication skills. Initially, the position will involve supporting a number of projects in the construction phase, requiring travel to project sites, but ultimately, the position is intended to be performed mainly from PACE’s office. Engineering functions of this position will include:
• Water treatment
• Wastewater treatment
• Pumping and water conveyance facilities
• Water storage facilities
• Construction administration / support
Responsibilities may include:
1. Perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing
2. Initial field / construction work
3. Construction document preparation (specifications and drawings)
4. Creating details in AutoCAD
5. Research
6. Field studies
7. Technical writing
8. Hydraulic modeling
9. Conduct site visits as required
10. Engineering support during construction including RFI and submittal responses, coordination on construction matters, construction site engineering support, and attending construction progress meetings
11. Coordination with vendors
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or related engineering field.
· Passed EIT exam or is eligible to sit for the exam
· University courses completed including physical, chemical and biological processes of water, hydraulics, and water and wastewater treatment.
· Water and sewer hydraulic modeling experience
· 1-5 years of experience
· Creative problem-solving skills
· Excellent communication skills including technical writing and presentations
· Ability to work in a team environment and self-directed
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD
· MS Office proficiency
· Ability to travel to project sites throughout Arizona to support projects

As a key member of the Research and Development (R&D) Team at PACE, the Field and Laboratory Operations Technician will support engineers and scientists in conducting, planning, organizing, and coordinating a wide range of activities in our in-house PACE Environmental Water Laboratory and at field sites. Responsibilities include conducting pilot-and bench-scale testing; performing physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses of water and wastewater samples; constructing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting pilot systems; and assisting with other R&D initiatives across water, wastewater, and water reuse projects.
The successful candidate will join a team of environmental engineers and scientists who are well-known in the industry for excellence in advanced water and wastewater research and technical consulting.

Functions of this position may include:

Engineering position that will be involved in stormwater engineering analysis and design. Emphasis is on technical aspects including hydrology, hydraulics, one dimensional modeling, and two-dimensional modeling. The person in this role will learn the modeling packages currently in use at PACE and will take the lead in learning new modeling software as motivated by client and project needs. This engineer will work with the Technical Director to help troubleshoot different aspects of complex design and analysis problems and computer models for multiple projects. Will be involved with internal training, internal and external project communication and will contribute to written analysis and design reports.
This is an entry level position leading to an advanced role. The candidate will be expected to gain significant understanding and expertise in their role at PACE, and leverage that expertise to assist with multiple projects, and to help educate internally. The position will strategically apply sustainable design practices to a variety of water resources projects.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or related engineering field with 5 – 15 years of work experience, master’s degree a plus.Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license (California preferred).University courses in water resources / water engineering such as water and wastewater treatment, hydraulics, US regulatory framework (SDWA, NPDES, CA Title 22, etc.) sustainability, etc.MS Office proficiency.Working knowledge of AutoCAD.Excellent communication skills including technical writing and presentations.Ability to work in a team environment and self-directed.Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
