    The Vollum Institute is a privately endowed research institute at Oregon Health & Science University dedicated to basic research that will lead to new treatments for neurological and psychiatric diseases. Vollum scientists have broad-ranging interests that coalesce around molecular neurobiology and cellular physiology. Their work has transformed the field of neuroscience and, in particular, have provided important advances in the study of synaptic transmission, neuronal development, neurotransmitter transporters, ion channels and the neurobiology of disease.

    Under direct supervision, primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide.  

     

    Sample processing, assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, library research, data collection, recording transcription.Cleaning/sterilizing lab instruments and surfaces.Stocking lab benches with supplies.
    Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in:High school; ORUndergraduate program (minimum 6 credit hours).Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent interpersonal communication skills.Ability to be self-motivated, to prioritize effectively and achieve deadlines.Ability to gather, compile, analyze and maintain, in a range of formats, information from a variety of sources, including research publications, web sources, and internal and external contacts.Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with issues of a sensitive nature and to maintain research integrity.

    The student will be working in basic science research, may involve working with lab chemicals, and using research equipment under supervision.

    This position is responsible for providing technological and administrative support to the OHSU Simulation Program with a focus on clinical skills training of healthcare professionals. This position works in the OHSU Simulation Center in the Multnomah Pavilion (MNP). There are multiple simulation centers and a growing footprint at OHSU. This position partners with the Lead SimOps Specialist in MNP Simulaiton and is responsible for collaborating with OHSU Simulation Operations teams across OHSU and its partner institutions. This position partners directly with OHSU faculty, facilitating clinical skills labs in service of all learners, supporting the overall skill training needs for the School of Nursing cohorts, the Physician Assistant learners, the Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Transition to Practice (TTP), along with other hospital based teams.

     

    Location is MNP Simulation (Multnomah Pavilion)

     


    MNP Simulation Center Assistance

    Assistance with supply inventory needs.Filing, collating, and assisting simulation center staff with course-related needs.Partnering with simulation center staff for pulling supplies, setting up supplies and events, cleaning up, and putting supplies away.Assisting with equipment maintenance and other job-related functions.

    OHSU Dermatology is located in the Center for Health & Healing on the South Waterfront in Portland, Oregon. The Department of Dermatology is dedicated to providing our patients the best and most innovative dermatologic care for the broad range of skin, hair, nail and mucous membrane disorders. 


    Teaching trainees, medical students and support staff in accordance with assignments by the Chair. Teaching is done through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees and guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility. Appointee shall establish and maintain a program of scholarly activities directed toward improving understanding of the causes, detection and treatment of diseases. The appointee shall have a demonstrated competence in teaching. This position also contributes to the administration of the department as assigned by the Chair; specifically, by helping select residents and participating in administrative committees and councils of OHSU as approved by the Chair.

     

    Providing an outstanding level of professional performance (e.g. quality of investigation for research faculty; quality of clinical care for clinical faculty; quality of administrative function in education office). Professional performance is to be delivered in a manner that is compliant with the OHSU Code of Conduct. Appointee shall treat all patients, research subjects, trainees and co-workers with dignity and respect.

     

    Maintaining a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases. May develop and direct scholarly research activities focused toward improving the educational foundation within dermatology. May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair.     Appointee shall have a demonstrated competence in research, teaching, patient care, administration or combinations of these activities. The potential for academic accomplishment should be evident.


    Applicants must have a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) Degree and Board certification/eligibility in Dermatology as well as experience in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients with cutaneous diseases. Research interests may be clinical or basic science. Depending on the qualifications of the person selected, the position may be filled as an Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary shall be commensurate with rank. Clinical and academic bonuses are available based upon productivity.

    The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

     

    The duties of this position include:  The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and the OHSU Center for Women’s Health is seeking a Perinatologist at the Professor level.  This faculty position will provide clinical care at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland, Oregon. There will also be regularly scheduled clinical coverage at contracted regional sites, which may include Salem Health’s Hospital in Salem, Oregon, Hillsboro Medical Center in Hillsboro, Oregon and/or PeaceHealth SW Washington in Vancouver, Washington.

     

    The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the division head in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Expertise required in clinical practice and administration within the full range of maternal/fetal medicine, both inpatient and outpatient services, and including Ultrasound and Echocardiology. OHSU is an academic center; physicians with research interests in any of these areas are encouraged to consider this exciting opportunity.


    Leadership (not related to teaching or research):

    There are multiple faculty opportunities at regional facilities and at OHSU. Senior faculty may be considered for leadership/medical direction roles at either of the two regional facilities.

    Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):

    This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to maternal fetal medicine patients. This position will require expertise in clinical practice and administration within the full range of maternal/fetal medicine, both inpatient and outpatient services, and including Ultrasound, consults, procedures, and deliveries. OHSU Faculty members provide an outstanding level of clinical performance. The expectation is that clinical performance be delivered in a manner that is compliant with appropriate regulations and guidelines (the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, JCAHO, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines).  Clinical activities will take place at both OHSU and other contracted locations.

    Administrative Activities:

    As an OHSU faculty member this person would be required to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level. All faculty members are expected to aid the division head and department chair in providing direction to the division and the department both on a day-to-day basis and as part of ongoing strategic planning and strategic planning.

    Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.):

    OHSU faculty members are expected to have some scholarly activity, this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Faculty members are often called upon to partner with other providers and members of the department or division research support staff in research activity. Faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.

    Education (include types of teaching and types of student taught):

    This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in OB/GYN rotations. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the maternal fetal medicine environment, this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in maternal fetal medicine. Specifically, faculty members in Maternal Fetal Medicine are key educators to fellows enrolled in the Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship program. This faculty member will provide education and feedback to fellowship trainees in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program. This person would also be expected to provide feedback and guidance in the continuing development and improvement of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship program.

    Other Activities:

    Opportunities for scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases or improving the educational foundation within perinatal medicine.  OHSU Faculty may engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair and may also participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair or supervising Division Head.
