    BIM VDC Electrical Coordinator

    Position Summary

    We are seeking a skilled BIM VDC Electrical Coordinator to join our engineering department. This role focuses on electrical constructability review, trade coordination, and installation planning for commercial and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will transform engineered drawings into comprehensive, constructable installation plans that optimize both trade coordination and installation efficiency.


    Key Responsibilities

    BIM/VDC Coordination:

    Develop detailed 3D models and installation sequences using Autodesk Revit and NavisworksPerform clash detection and resolution across all building systemsCreate comprehensive installation plans that consider trade coordination and sequencingGenerate accurate material takeoffs and installation documentationCoordinate with other trades to ensure optimal installation efficiency

    Electrical Systems Planning:

    Analyze engineered drawings for whole building electrical distribution systemsPlan installation methods for pipe racks, cable tray, conduit, and specialized raceway systemsDesign support systems and attachment methods for electrical infrastructureDevelop routing strategies that minimize conflicts and maximize accessibilityCreate detailed installation sequences and phasing plans

    Code Compliance & Technical Review:

    Ensure all installation plans comply with current NEC requirementsVerify proper conduit types, support spacing, and installation methodsCalculate and verify cable fill ratios, box fill requirements, and bend radius complianceReview and validate support spacing and structural attachment requirementsIdentify potential code violations and constructability issues before construction

    Documentation & Communication:

    Prepare detailed installation drawings and specificationsCreate visual installation guides and sequencing documentationCollaborate with field teams to address constructability concernsParticipate in design coordination meetings and trade coordination sessionsGenerate progress reports and project documentation


    Required Qualifications

    Technical Expertise:

    Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems in commercial/industrial applicationsComprehensive knowledge of NEC requirements for electrical installationsExperience with conduit systems, cable tray, pipe racks, and specialty racewaysUnderstanding of electrical support systems and structural attachment methodsKnowledge of electrical equipment installation and spatial requirements

    Software Proficiency:

    Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (electrical/MEP modules)Strong experience with Navisworks for clash detection and coordinationFamiliarity with additional BIM software and coordination tools preferredProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software

    Education & Experience:

    Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related fieldMinimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical construction or BIM coordinationBackground in electrical installation or field experience preferredRelevant certifications (NECA or BIM-related) are a plus

    Personal Skills:

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent attention to detail and accuracyEffective communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple projectsStrong organizational and time management skillsCommitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry standards

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with prefabrication and modular construction techniquesKnowledge of additional trade coordination (HVAC, plumbing, structural)Familiarity with lean construction principles and methodologiesExperience with cloud-based collaboration platforms (BIM 360, ACC)Understanding of construction sequencing and project scheduling
