    Build it. Own it. Lead it.

    As the Maintenance Manager for the Smarr Combined Cycle plant, you'll play a pivotal role in bringing a state‑of‑the‑art power generation facility to life and then keeping it running safely, efficiently, and reliably for years to come.

    This is not a "steady‑state" role. You'll be at the front end of a new plant, setting the foundation for how maintenance is done: building programs, hiring and developing your team, establishing work plans, and ensuring the right tools, parts, and systems are in place from day one. Once the plant is operational, you'll lead all aspects of maintenance across mechanical, electrical, civil, and I&C disciplines.

    What You'll Do

    Build, lead, and develop the site's maintenance organization with a strong safety culture Establish maintenance programs for a new combined cycle facility, including job plans, preventive maintenance, asset management, and spare parts strategy Manage daily maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation & controls Own the Maximo preventive maintenance program and overall equipment asset management strategy Set up maintenance shops, tooling, spare parts inventory, and specialty equipment Plan and manage outages and major overhauls, including contractor performance and safety Develop, review, and improve maintenance procedures to support safe, efficient operations Prepare and manage maintenance capital and operating budgets Analyze maintenance performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement Partner with Operations and Plant Leadership to support reliable and efficient power generation Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

    Required:

    The general function of the Maintenance Manager is to coordinate and supervise all mechanical, electrical, civil, contract, and instrument & control maintenance to ensure that the power production facilities owned and/or operated by OPC are properly maintained in order to provide reliable and efficient electric power generation in accordance with corporate safety policies and procedures, and all applicable governmental regulations. Establish standards, methods, and procedures to maintain systems, equipment, and unit/plant performance testing. Ensure that an adequate supply of tools, equipment, consumables and spare parts are available to support the maintenance needs of the facilities owned and/or operated by OPC. Responsible for providing reliable and efficient electric power generation in compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures, mandatory electric reliability standards, FERC, EPA, EPD, OSHA, DOT and all applicable governmental regulations.


    Job Duties:

    Manage the Thomas A. Smith Energy Facility day-to-day plant maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation in compliance with warranty requirements, and corporate policies and procedures.Prepare capital and operating budgets for responsibility area; operates within budget and is accountable for actual expenditures in that areaCoordinate development and implementation of technical, mechanical, electrical, civil, and I&C programs to ensure and enhance equipment longevity.Coordinate development and review of maintenance procedures; prepare necessary revisions to assure maximum safety of personnel and equipment, economy of operations, and effective utilization of manpower; assure adherence to developed policies and procedures.Establish, monitor, maintain, evaluate, and re-evaluate cost effectiveness of all maintenance programs.Analyze and resolve maintenance problems to assure continuity and economy of operations.Manage major overhauls and outages; direct and monitor the performance of contractors.Coordinate development and implementation of on-the-job training programs to obtain maximum proficiency of plant maintenance personnel; monitor and evaluate to ensure effectiveness of the training program and maintain active administrative role in employee and labor relations.Identify and ensure that adequate parts, materials, supplies, tools, and test equipment is on hand and in good condition to perform scheduled work.Maintains job related qualifications, system knowledge, and knowledge and understanding of OPC policies and procedures, F.E.R.C. license requirements and Emergency Action Plan, Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Plan laws and directives as they apply in all employment practices.

    Required Qualifications:

    Education:

    Required - High School Diploma or equivalentPreferred - 4 year college degree

    Experience:

    Required - Twelve (12) years progressively responsible power plant maintenance experience to include gas fired, coal, hydro or nuclear units, of which four (4) years include supervisory, management or leadership responsibilities.Preferred - Plant maintenance experience at the journeyman or equivalent level.

    Equivalent Experience: Combined years of equivalent education and experience must generally equal or exceed the required years of experience stated:

    Eight (8) years of experience, of which four (4) included supervisory, management or leadership responsibilities, AND a four (4) year college degree, OR,

    Ten (10) years of experience, of which four (4) included supervisory, management or leadership responsibilities, AND two (2) years of college

    Equivalent experience will be determined based on a combination of education, training, and professional, technical or military experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Education considered may include technical and college studies and degrees, industrial training programs and certifications, and military training. Experience considered may include related industrial and military work. Supervisory, management and leadership responsibilities may be considered in any work or military setting.

In addition, the individual performs operator rounds, troubleshooting, preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on plant systems/equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations, as well as enhance equipment longevity, complying with all policies and procedures, and governmental regulations. Responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient electric power generation in compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures, mandatory electric reliability standards, FERC, EPA, EPD, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable governmental regulations.     Job Duties:

    Responsible for daily plant operations and/or maintenance programs to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations, complying with corporate policies and procedures, and all governmental regulations. Must strive to achieve dispatch orders and keep the control room informed of all changes in plant capability and equipment conditions. Daily plant operations include start-up and shutdown of the plant and various equipment, operator rounds, daily chemistry activities, off-loading of chemical trucks, addressing chemical inventory, as needed, and shift log communications. Daily maintenance programs include predictive, preventative, and corrective equipment maintenance in Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrument & Controls disciplines. equipment.Take appropriate independent corrective actions to address abnormal conditions, engage needed resources or supervisor, notify plant personnel/management, and utilize work order/management processes. This may also include researching alternative solutions, contractor oversight, and/or identifying spare parts/supplies that are required to complete repairs or diagnostics. In this role, skills are developed in the primary discipline to the advanced level and working on intermediate skill level in at least one secondary area of discipline in Operations or Maintenance (Mechanical or Electrical/Instrument & Controls).Support the Clearance Program for isolating energy sources before performing work. This includes accountability and comprehension of plant systems and the ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's), electrical one-line diagrams, and other technical manuals or drawings.Complete all required and developmental training to ensure personal compliance, safe work practices, and operational excellence while performing duties.     Required Qualifications:

    Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    Experience: 4+ years' experience in at least one journeyman discipline, either Operations (Control Board Operator) or Maintenance (Mechanical or Electrical/Instrument &Controls) for an operating commercial power production facility, a large natural gas facility, or equivalent military experience. In addition, a highly developed analytical and technical problem-solving background.

    Equivalent Experience: Two (2) year technical degree or equivalent, and three (3) years' experience in operating or maintaining a thermal electric power station or similar industry, or ten (10) years of military experience in a power or technical field.

    Specialized Skills:

    A strong ability to work in a team environment. An effective trainer of personnel and one that motivates others to succeed.The ability to extract, comprehend and develop instructions from technical manuals, journals, anddrawings, technical literature and other job-related material; and to effectively communicate orally and inwriting using the English language.Possess independent decision-making capabilities in stressful situations with minimum supervision. Working in Confined spaces and at heights, as in entering internal areas of the turbine for inspection or repairs during outages, climbing ladders to gain access, working within tight quarters of surrounding piping and conduit to perform troubleshooting functions.The ability to troubleshoot electrical, instrument and mechanical systems for malfunctions. The ability to instruct others in the performance of testing, checkout and troubleshooting of equipment. The ability to provide technical direction and leadership when assigned work led to the modifications and/or repairs of plant equipment.The ability to perform predictive maintenance and interpret data on plant equipment performance, if trained as a technology owner.The ability to perform contractor management skills when needed. The ability to operate and be certified on industrial trucks, forklift, manlifts, and boom truck, as required.The ability to perform and be certified in First Aid and CPR/AED.

    Travel: 10%

    Unusual hours or overtime: Will require scheduled and call out OT as plant operating and maintenance needs dictate. Schedule Monday- Friday 7AM – 3:30 PM Weekends and Nights as needed.
