Description: NWON is seeking a lead teacher responsible for coordinating and implementing creative curriculum and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants-if and when assigned, and resolve parental concerns in collaboration with either the executive director, program director and/or assistant director.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.Maintain frequent communications with families through discussions, progress reports (Bright wheel), and parent-teacher conferences.Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.Maintain accurate student assessments, observations, records, student portfolios, forms and files.Ensure that the lesson plans are up to date and meeting the needs for the themes being taught; all teachers must submit lesson plans by every Thursday (weekly) Lesson Plans are reviewed by both the state and Keystone STARS.
Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience.Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff,
children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.A strong understanding of child development.Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.Must clear full background check and must pass health screeningAssociate’s degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE. (And/or) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field. A CDA from accredited program in area of teaching (e.g., preschool, infant/toddler, etc.Valid Clearances-CBC-Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse, FBI, health assessment, CPR/First Aide.
