Certified Medical Assistant Position: Certified Medical Assistant Location: Madigan Army Medical Center and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Tacoma WA Departments: Pediatrics, Operational Medicine, Family Medicine, Medicine, OB/GYN Schedule: The MTF is a 24/7 facility therefore hours of performance shall be set forth by the applicable Department Chief or his/her designated Government representative. The actual schedule will be determined and originated by the Government and is subject to change and/or adjustment due to changing mission requirements. A 30-minute unpaid meal break is provided during the shift. Meal breaks are mandatory, will be determined by the Government for each skillset. Duty Hours: Generally, 0730-1630 but may vary depending on clinic assignment. Hours may be scheduled between 0600-1700. Work Schedule: Work schedules may vary slightly depending on clinic location assigned. Typical hours will be 0730-1630, Monday Friday but may be scheduled between the hours of 0700-1630. Shifts will be scheduled for either an 8.5 hour or a 9-hour period, to include an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break; contingent upon clinic approval. Minimum Qualifications: Degree/Education: Certification, graduate from a medical assistant training program. At a minimum, the medical assistant program must be sponsored or recognized by an educational institution which is accredited by U.S. Department of Education (DOE) located at ope.ed.gov. Not required, but preferred, the medical assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or a formal medial services training program of the United States Armed Forces and /or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces. Certifications (in addition to Basic Life Support) Certified Medical Assistant Only: Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Current registration by the American Medical technologist or other formal program as specified in the TO. BLS requirements in accordance with DHA PM 6025.13 Vol 4, the only acceptable BLS certifications are from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, and the class must be a full, hands-on course.
