About the Role
Hempel Real Estate is seeking a highly detail-oriented Development Accountant to join our finance team. This individual will be responsible for providing comprehensive accounting support for real estate development projects from inception through stabilization. This role ensures that project costs are accurately tracked, reported, and analyzed to support sound financial decision-making and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
This Development Accountant position provides an excellent opportunity to expand on existing experience with accounting systems and more specifically, commercial real estate accounting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, resourceful, detail-oriented, and has excellent follow-through. This position reports directly to the Assistant Controller, while fully supporting and working closely with additional finance and accounting team members.
Key Responsibilities (are inclusive of but not limited to)
Project AccountingMaintain and manage the general ledger for multiple development projectsTrack and code construction and development costs to appropriate categoriesReconcile project accounts and oversee loan draw schedulesAssemble and review lender/equity draw packages with required documentationFinancial ReportingPrepare monthly balance sheet workbook reconciliations for internal reviewProduce monthly/quarterly financial reports with budget-to-actual comparisonsAssist with year-end audit/tax preparation and coordination with external teamsBudgeting & ForecastingLead the preparation and review of initial project budgets and subsequent revisionsTrack and assess budget changes, change orders, and contingency useCollaborate closely with senior development managers and executives to maintain accurate forecastsCompliance & ControlsEnsure compliance with GAAP and internal policies and proceduresAssist in building internal controls and documentation for development accountingAssist with special projects as assignedOther duties as assignedMinimum Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field3+ years of accounting experience (1+ years in real estate development or construction preferred)Knowledge of GAAP and real estate project accountingStrong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong follow-through and ability to take ownership of responsibilities and see tasks through to completionAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidanceHighly professionalDesired Qualifications & Characteristics

About the Role
Hempel Real Estate is seeking a highly professional, service-oriented Executive Driver & Hospitality Concierge to serve as the face of our hospitality program while providing executive transportation services to building tenants and guests. This position combines luxury customer service, concierge responsibilities, executive driving, amenities
management, and operational support to help deliver an exceptional Class A office experience. This individual works to ensure exceptional building performance, operational excellence, and hospitable tenant experiences.
The ideal candidate is personable, proactive, service-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. During periods when transportation services are not in demand, the Executive Driver & Hospitality Concierge will support building operations, tenant engagement, property management initiatives, and the oversight of premium amenities. This position reports directly to the LaSalle Plaza Director of Property Management.
