About the Role:
The High School Algebra Teacher plays a critical role in shaping students' understanding and appreciation of mathematics, specifically algebra. Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with high school students in an educational setting.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Mathematics Education or a related discipline.
Valid teaching certification or license for secondary education in the relevant jurisdiction.
Experience integrating technology into math instruction, such as using graphing calculators or educational software.
Familiarity with differentiated instruction techniques to support diverse learners.
Previous experience in curriculum development or academic coaching.
Professional development or training in culturally responsive teaching practices.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and address the needs of all students.
Deliver clear and effective instruction in algebra concepts.
Prepare students for the Regents Algebra 1 exam.
Assess student learning through quizzes, tests, assignments, and projects, and provide timely feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress reports.
Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school administration to support student development and address any academic or behavioral concerns.
Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and understanding.
Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a growth mindset.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mathematics instruction and pedagogy.

Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience. Range: $75,000 - $110,000

Position Summary
Northside Charter High School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Math Teacher for the 2025–2026 academic year. As New York State Education Department (NYSED) graduation requirements evolve, we are seeking an innovative educator who is ready to think strategically about instructional design and assessment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the mathematics team to develop and implement forward-thinking approaches that ensure students meet graduation benchmarks while building the skills necessary for post-secondary success.
This role requires a teacher who is reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement, someone eager to help shape a program that prepares students not just for exams, but for college-level coursework and career readiness.
Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in mathematics, which may include Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or Statistics, depending on expertise and school need.
College Readiness: Integrate PSAT, SAT, and college-level problem types into daily instruction to strengthen students’ analytical reasoning, problem-solving stamina, and readiness for post-secondary academic expectations.
Student Engagement: Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a growth mindset in mathematics.
Skill Development: Help students build foundational skills to solve complex problem sets involving deep reasoning and real-world application.
Assessment and Feedback: Design and administer assessments to evaluate student progress, provide timely and constructive feedback, and tailor instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Differentiation: Adapt instruction to accommodate various learning levels and styles, ensuring all students are supported and challenged.
Classroom Management: Maintain an organized, respectful, and positive learning environment.
Collaboration: Work with colleagues and coach to align curriculum, share resources, and participate in professional learning communities.
Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents and guardians about student progress and classroom activities.
Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mathematics instruction and pedagogy.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and effective teaching practices.
Completed at least one full academic year in a classroom teaching role.
Preferred:
Valid teaching certification for secondary mathematics (or ability to obtain certification before the start date).
Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) math courses.
Familiarity with integrating technology into mathematics instruction.

About the Role:
Northside Charter High School is seeking an organized, flexible, and mission-driven Dean of Student Experience to join us in supporting Students and Caregivers at our school. The ideal candidate is fully dedicated to the mission of NCHS and to supporting the success of our students and families. This person will report directly to the Associate Director of Student Experience and Safety and be responsible for implementing our socio-emotional and behavioral intervention through direct practice with students and faculty. The core of this person’s role is to partner with educators and families to ensure that the school is meeting the needs of every student.
Student Experience
Analyze academic data to lead a proactive RTI process and work closely with the Student Services Department to train teachers on its implementation
Maintain a thorough and accurate system of the various mandates the school is required to meet
Assist teachers to devise and monitor high-impact support plans for students
Model community-building strategies for teachers
Provide support to teachers, helping them build and create a restorative, structured, and responsive room culture and hold all students to high and consistent restorative behavioral expectations.
Plan, leads, and oversees family and community events that reflect our vision and values
Establishes a circle of contact between students, caregivers, and the school
Partners with student service team and leadership team to ensure that all students, including those with exceptionalities, have the access and support needed to achieve and demonstrate readiness for the next grade
Works collaboratively, leverages data, and thinks flexibly to continuously improve school culture systems and decision-making processes that strengthen outcomes
Behavior Management
Model how to build strong, mutually respectful relationships with students and families and support teachers to do the same
Own the initial response and follow up to Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior interventions
Design and deliver professional development sessions on the various socio-emotional learning and special education skills required by the staff at large
Observe and give feedback on schoolwide systems and classroom culture
Ensure all support, interventions, and accommodations to individual students, according to individual support plans.
Work closely with teachers, family, and leadership to create and implement intervention plans.
Maintain a calming, restorative space for students to de-escalate and reflect following conflicts
Co-plan and lead grade-level meetings.
Foster a strong and cohesive school culture through restorative justice practices and community building.
Leads and manages culture data systems (i.e attendance, referrals, and logical consequences), related communication structures, and data-driven action plans that ensures data is used to strengthen school and classroom culture
Coaches and develops staff, including planning and leading development, on behavior management, responsive classroom, and social-emotional learning
Candidate Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or 2 years professional experience
At least 1-2 years of experience as a Dean in a post-secondary environment preferred or related experience.
Exceptionally strong organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail
Adapt at collaborating and building community with others
