    Press Brake Operator

    Position Summary

    As a Press Brake Operator, you will play a critical role in transforming steel plate and sheet material into finished components that meet exact customer specifications. Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake equipment while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

    This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in producing quality work, understands the importance of precision fabrication, and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where every part matters.

    What You'll Own

    Press Brake Operation

    Set up and operate press brake equipment to bend, form, and shape steel plate and sheet material according to customer specifications.Select, install, and adjust tooling, dies, and machine settings for production runs.Perform first-piece inspections and verify machine setup before releasing parts into production.Monitor production runs and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.Produce parts that meet dimensional and quality requirements while minimizing scrap and rework.

    Blueprint Interpretation & Quality Control

    Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, work orders, and production documentation.Measure and inspect finished parts using tape measures, squares, protractors, calipers, and other measuring devices.Verify dimensions, bend angles, and tolerances meet customer and company requirements.Identify quality concerns and communicate issues before products move to the next stage of production.

    Material Handling & Production Support

    Verify material grade, thickness, dimensions, and identification prior to processing.Coordinate with crane operators and material handlers to safely move material throughout the production process.Safely assist with or perform overhead crane operations when qualified and authorized.Maintain material traceability and proper identification throughout production.Support production priorities and schedules to help ensure on-time delivery to customers.

    Equipment Care & Safety

    Perform daily equipment inspections and routine preventive maintenance activities.Immediately report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or safety hazards.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.Participate in safety meetings, training activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

    Work collaboratively with supervisors, production personnel, quality personnel, and material handling teams.Assist with training and supporting teammates when requested.Look for opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and productivity within the operation.Perform other duties as assigned to support business and customer needs.

    What It Takes to Be Successful

    Experience operating press brake equipment in a manufacturing, fabrication, or metal processing environment.Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and production documentation.Strong understanding of measuring tools and dimensional inspection techniques.Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and setup issues.Experience safely working around overhead cranes and heavy material handling operations.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.Ability to work independently while maintaining strong teamwork and communication.Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.Basic computer and mathematical skills.

    Preferred Experience

    One to three years of press brake operating experience in a steel fabrication, manufacturing, or metal processing environment.Experience working with steel plate, structural steel, or heavy fabricated components.Experience performing machine setups, tooling changes, and first-piece inspections.Experience operating or signaling overhead bridge cranes.Forklift experience is a plus.Familiarity with CNC-controlled fabrication equipment.Experience working in a fast-paced production environment with demanding customer schedules.

    Saw Operator

    Position Summary

    North Shore Steel is an industry-leading metals service center with a long-standing reputation for quality, precision, and customer service. We are seeking an experienced Saw Operator to join our Plate Processing team.

    In this role, you will be responsible for safely and accurately operating industrial saw equipment to cut carbon steel plate and other metal products according to customer specifications, shop drawings, and production work orders. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, precise measuring skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality and safety.

    This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and plays a critical role in ensuring customer orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

    What You'll Own

    Saw Operations

    Set up and operate industrial band saws and related cutting equipment.Review work orders, drawings, and specifications to determine required cuts and processing instructions.Measure, mark, and verify material dimensions prior to cutting.Perform precise cuts while maintaining dimensional tolerances and quality requirements.Monitor saw performance and make adjustments as necessary to ensure accurate production.

    Quality & Inspection

    Verify material identification, dimensions, and specifications before processing.Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with customer and company requirements.Utilize measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, squares, and other inspection equipment.Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.Maintain traceability of material heat numbers and customer order information.

    Material Handling

    Safely move plate and steel products using overhead cranes and forklifts as required.Coordinate material movement to and from production workstations.Stage completed orders in designated locations for downstream processing or shipment.Maintain proper material identification throughout the production process.

    Equipment & Safety

    Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.Participate in safety meetings, training activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Required

    Minimum 2 years of manufacturing, fabrication, machine operation, or metal processing experience.Ability to accurately read tape measures and perform basic shop math.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Ability to read and follow production work orders and processing instructions.Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and moving materials.Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials as required.

    Preferred

    Coil Unloader – Rail & Barge Operations

    About the Role

    Bayou Processing and Storage is looking for a safety-conscious, dependable team member to join our operations crew as a Material Handler. This critical role supports the movement of heavy steel coils arriving by rail and barge. You’ll be working outdoors, on or near the water, using rigging and heavy equipment to safely unload and position steel coils for processing.

    Key Responsibilities

    Work Environment & Safety Requirements

    Must be comfortable working over and near water, including on docks and barges.Required to wear a personal flotation device (PFD) and safety gear at all times when working near water.Exposure to outdoor weather year-round, including heat, rain, and cold.Will regularly climb onto and off of rail cars, ladders, or gangways.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk on concrete or metal grating for extended periods, and work in noisy, industrial environments.Safety is non-negotiable, we follow all OSHA, company regulations, and other request agencies to protect our team members.

    What You Bring

    Prior experience in freight, marine, steel, or industrial environments is preferred.Familiarity with rigging, overhead cranes, or coil handling is a strong plus.Able to follow verbal and written instructions, maintain situational awareness, and stay focused in high-risk areas.Willingness to learn, work as a team, and follow all safety rules and reporting procedures.

    Quality Control Representative

    Position Summary

    North Shore Steel is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Representative to support our East Houston operations. This position is responsible for inspecting processed steel products to ensure compliance with customer specifications, company quality standards, and production requirements.

    The QC Representative serves as a critical link between production and customer satisfaction by verifying dimensional accuracy, material identification, workmanship, labeling, packaging, and shipment readiness. Success in this role requires strong blueprint-reading skills, attention to detail, knowledge of steel processing operations, and the ability to communicate effectively with production personnel to maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

    The QC Representative works closely with Production Supervisors and Operations personnel while maintaining responsibility for verifying product conformance to customer specifications and company quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    Inspect processed steel products, including burned, beveled, rolled, drilled, and fabricated components, to ensure compliance with customer specifications and company quality standards.Review work orders, drawings, purchase orders, and customer specifications prior to inspection activities.Verify dimensions, tolerances, bevel angles, material identification, and overall workmanship using appropriate measuring and inspection tools.Ensure products meet customer requirements and company quality objectives prior to shipment.Reject products and materials that fail to meet quality standards and specifications.Complete nonconformance reports and document inspection findings when products do not meet requirements.Prepare quality records and inspection reports to document compliance, discrepancies, and corrective actions.Communicate inspection results to production personnel and supervisors and provide recommendations for corrective action when needed.Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions related to nonconforming products and customer concerns.Label parts and products in accordance with customer requirements and company quality procedures.Verify shipment accuracy, including product identification, quantities, documentation, packaging, and labeling requirements.Palletize, bundle, stage, and prepare finished products for shipment.Transport and/or load finished products manually and/or using forklifts and overhead cranes.Maintain inspection records and documentation in accordance with company quality procedures.Support production operations as needed, including palletizing, deburring, and other related duties.

    Qualifications

    Minimum of two (2) years of quality control, inspection, manufacturing, steel processing, fabrication, or related industrial experience.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and customer specifications.Ability to demonstrate adequate visual and auditory acuity to safely perform assigned tasks, including identifying potential hazards, reading and recording measurements, inspecting materials and products, and responding promptly to verbal instructions, alarms, and hand signals.Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to accurately perform measurements and dimensional verification.Experience using measuring and inspection equipment including tape measures, calipers, squares, protractors, bevel gauges, and similar inspection tools.Knowledge of carbon steel plate processing operations, including burning, beveling, rolling, drilling, and fabrication processes, is strongly preferred.Experience completing inspection documentation, quality reports, and nonconformance reports preferred.Overhead crane experience preferred.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records.Professional communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production teams.

    Night Shift Welding Supervisor (6 PM – 6 AM)

    Position Summary

    As a Night Shift Welding Supervisor, you will lead and oversee all welding and fit-up activities during the night shift, including Sub Arc (long seam and girth seam), MIG welding, repair welding, and fitting operations.

    This role requires a balance of technical expertise and leadership capability. You must be able to evaluate weld quality, guide teams, enforce standards, and ensure production goals are met without compromising safety or workmanship.

    This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands welding processes and can lead from the floor.

    This is a highly specialized role requiring precision, discipline, and a strong understanding of weld discontinuities, repair methods, and code-compliant execution. You will work closely with Quality Control and NDE teams to ensure all repairs meet AWS and ASME standards.
