Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with clients in their home setting and community, possibly a few hours at our day service site, ensuring their needs, wants, dreams and desires are met while promoting independence and dignity.
Responsibilities
Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care and hygiene.
Monitor medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medication records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with preparing nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to promote healthy eating habits.
Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to enhance their emotional well-being.
Assist with supporting the person to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
Previous experience in working with adults or children with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of medication administration procedures and the ability to follow care plans effectively.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
