Technical Design Lead

What You Are Responsible For
You own the space between design intent and built reality.
Technical Design Execution
Translate design into complete, buildable documentationProduce and oversee elevations, millwork, lighting plans, and detailed drawing setsReview and redline all technical work before it leaves the studioEliminate ambiguity between what is designed and what gets built
Project Execution & Site Leadership
Support and progressively own project timelines from post-design through installConduct regular site visits to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment with design intentIdentify and solve issues in real time on site, not after the factCommunicate directly with contractors, fabricators, and trades with authority and clarityManage conversations on site with confidence. You are not there to observe. You are there to lead
Construction & Trade Coordination
Demonstrate strong working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and materialsRead, interpret, and challenge architectural and contractor drawings where neededEnsure all parties are aligned on scope, details, and execution standardsPrevent mistakes by catching gaps before they are built
Procurement Alignment
Work closely with Procurement Manager to align product timelines with constructionFlag long-lead risks earlySupport install readiness planning
Team Contribution
Support and mentor junior designers on technical thinkingHelp reinforce documentation standards across the teamOperate as a bridge between design and execution

Requirements
5+ years of experience in technical design, interiors, or architectureStrong proficiency in construction drawings and detailingProven on-site experience with contractors and tradesAbility to confidently communicate and manage conversations on job sitesDeep understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and materialsAbility to read and interpret architectural plans fluentlyUnderstanding of how design decisions impact budget and timeline
