    We are looking for a highly motivated, independent and team-oriented Associate Scientist I to work in our high throughput production lab's Quality Control (QC) Team responsible for initial sample handling. Main responsibilities include, nucleic acid extractions, initial sample QC, and genotyping on the Illumina Infinium platform. This position reports to the QC Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Carry out procedures associated with DNA Perform quality control of initial samples and sequencing ready final library samples; Perform sample nucleic acid extraction with the use of automation (Hamilton Star, KingFisher Flex, QIAcube Connect); Process DNA for Illumina microarray platforms with use of automation (Hamilton Star, Tecan, iScan); Conduct other laboratory work, as needed; Track all work and issues in the appropriate databases and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS); Become proficient using NYGC's LIMS tracking system to accurately perform day-to-day tasks; Perform monthly instrument maintenance on laboratory equipment, in accordance to instrument SOPs Equipment maintenance Requirements 1 year of experience in a molecular biology lab; Experience with automated liquid handlers preferred; Experience in next-generation sequencing a plus; Solid knowledge of molecular biology equipment and related protocols (including RNA and DNA preparation, RNA and DNA quantification, hybridization, PCR, multiplex amplification and bead-based solutions) highly preferred; Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferably with Mac OS; Good general laboratory and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently are essential; Ability to multitask is a must, along with an orientation toward teamwork and cooperation; Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills; and, Excellent communication skills required. We encourage applications from talented scientists, who are interested in gaining experience in a multidisciplinary, international, and dynamic research environment. The successful candidate will work closely to PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and computational biologists in the lab to develop new statistical methods and software for the analysis of single cell datasets. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the growing space of single cell genomics while contributing to new research in cancer immunology and developmental neuroscience. Job duties will include: Develop computational methods to analyze single-cell genomics datasets Contribute to the codebase, development, and support of open-source software packages Assist in data analysis and interpretation for diverse research projects Help to manage lab servers and computational infrastructure Document and present results in written or oral reports to other lab members About the Satija Lab Dr. Satija's lab studies the causes and consequences of cellular heterogeneity in complex biological systems. Position Description We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Lab Manager to join the Satija Lab. This is a key operational role responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the laboratory. The Lab Manager will oversee lab administration, equipment, consumables, safety compliance, and onboarding, and will serve as the central point of contact for operational and logistical needs across the team. The successful candidate will work with mammalian and invertebrate based model systems in combination with next generation sequencing and CRISPR technology and will work closely with other scientists in the lab. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the growing space of single cell genomics while contributing to new research in cancer immunology and developmental neuroscience.
