    This is a full-time accounting leadership position based in New Orleans, LA. The role follows a standard Monday through Friday schedule, with flexibility as needed to meet financial reporting deadlines and organizational priorities.

    YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

    As the Director of Finance and Operations – Controller, you will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance while working closely with executive leadership to build a strong, sustainable organization. Each day will bring the opportunity to lead financial planning and analysis, manage cash flow and banking relationships, and ensure that financial and tax reporting is accurate and compliant with local, state, and federal regulations. You will strengthen internal controls, safeguard company assets, and oversee the management of financial systems and technologies to improve operations. You will mentor and guide a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering their professional growth. On certain projects, you may analyze multifamily developments financed with Low-Income Tax Credits, prepare financial projections, and evaluate potential investments. In this capacity, you will create detailed Preliminary Investment Reviews, serve as part of the Quality Control Review Committee, and review LIHTC deals. If you have expertise in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and Historic Tax Credits, you will also ensure compliance and maximize opportunities for the organization.

    8+ years of finance experience5+ years of experience in a senior financial leadership roleBachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related fieldStrong leadership and team management skillsExcellent communication and presentation skillsProficiency in financial software and systems, including advanced skills in Excel and finance modeling toolsAbility to think strategically and develop innovative solutions

    Preferred:

    MBA or CPAExperience in real estate development, construction, or a related industryKnowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements, with specific expertise in LIHTC and HTC

    Job Type: Full-Time - Remote opportunity with obligations to travel to project sites and company meet-ups as needed

    Pay: $100,000 -$120,000

    The Details Of This Construction Manager Position:

    YOUR CORE CONTRIBUTIONS AT OUR CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT TEAM:

    As a Construction Manager, you begin your day reviewing project plans and updates from your team. You meet with general contractors to discuss timelines, budgets, and any challenges that may have arisen. During site visits, you inspect ongoing work to ensure it meets quality standards and safety regulations, addressing any issues on the spot. You engage in discussions with subcontractors, facilitating smooth communication and collaboration. Throughout the day, you document progress and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned with project goals. You wrap up by strategizing for upcoming housing projects, focusing on ways to enhance the organization's overall capabilities.


    MUST-HAVES FOR THIS CONSTRUCTION MANAGER ROLE:

    Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field5+ years of construction management experience, preferably in multi-family affordable housing, market-rate, and hospitality (hotel) developmentsProven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion - on time and within budgetStrong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices; historic restoration experience requiredAbility to ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, legal requirements, project design, and financial commitmentsProficient in drafting, editing, and reviewing contract documents, including AIA documentsSkilled in estimating and experienced with project management toolsExceptional communication skills including the ability to clearly convey project status, challenges, and action items to internal and external stakeholders; experienced in preparing concise weekly reports and presentations. Especially adept at fostering collaboration and transparency in remote work environmentsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environmentSelf-motivated, with the ability to work independentlyProven ability to identify issues proactively and drive timely resolutionsComfortable leading project teams and facilitating meetings with stakeholders; able to influence decisions, motivate team members, and foster accountability to achieve shared project goals

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Professional certification in construction management (e.g., CCM, PMP)Familiarity with Section 3 standards, DBE participation, Davis-Bacon Wage Rates, and other relevant regulationsSkilled in risk managementKnowledge of historic tax credits, IBHS Fortified standards, Enterprise Green Community standards, and low-income housing tax credits
