We are seeking a growth-minded Internal Medicine physician to divide clinical time between inpatient hospitalist medicine and complex urgent care for seniors. This unique role is centered on caring for medically complex patients in innovative ways, including providing high-acuity outpatient alternatives to hospitalization. Approximately 60 to 70 percent of shifts are inpatient hospitalist shifts, with the remaining shifts in complex urgent care. Primary Responsibilities The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in adult medicine, such as hospitalist practice or a similar setting, along with experience caring for high-acuity, medically complex patients. Enjoy a schedule of 13 to 17 shifts per month, prorated for lower FTEs, depending on the mix of 10-hour and 12-hour shifts. Hospitalist care: The hospitalist team is well supported and works closely with ICU, emergency department, specialty, and palliative care partners. The team also has strong ties to the Washington State University residency program, with residents rotating through the service. Optum Advantage Clinic role: This clinic provides a high-touch alternative to the emergency department and hospitalization for eligible patients, including intensive outpatient treatment when needed, with multiple visits over several hours in a single day. The clinic is equipped to provide services such as IV diuresis, IV antibiotics, expedited virtual specialty consultation, imaging including X-ray and CT, and procedures. Residents in the Washington State University Internal Medicine residency program also rotate through the Optum Advantage Clinic. The schedule is thoughtfully integrated across these settings, creating variety in practice while supporting balance and flexibility. Providers benefit from a collaborative environment that makes it possible to deliver excellent, innovative care while also enjoying time for family, travel, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Salary range is defined as total cash compensation at target. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement.
